help!! cai problems!

ok i just got this really cheapass cold air intake, its like IMPORTECH or somethin like dat
but like the part dats suppsoed to fit into the engine doesn't fit that well. One of the pipes won't line up, so i just got some tubing and looped it around till it fits.
now wen i start up the car, it sounds like its gonna die cuz air isn't going through the loop, but once i start going its fine nice sound and stuff =)
but did any of you have problems installing intake? the piping won't fit, and the only way i see is to saw some of it off. the intake i bought is for a v6 accord 98-00, and i have 97 3.0 CL so its supposed to fiT!! ARGH!! im scared to drive now =\ sounds like engine might shut off
ok thx for ur time!

There really isnt anything you can do short of modding that cheap intake. Take this as alesson well learned and get parts made for the car next time. And for God's sake, take the intake off before you ruin your $6000 engine and $30,000 plus car.

I hope the amount you saved is worth all the hassle
IMO I'd rather pay a little more to get something I know will work rather than trying to fix a not so good imitation. Good luck

sounds like you're not giving your engine enough air there... if you want a cheap alternative just take off the airbox and stick a cone filter on the end... but definetely take off that piping if your engine is making funny noises...

spend the extra 20 bucks and get a real cai. I don't understand why people are willing to save a few bucks now and waste 30000 later. my injen was only 190. can't imagine how cheap a cheap one is...

that's good... what was the problem? check engine light is on? try resetting ECU and see if it goes off.. probably one of the sensors that usually goes into the intake (some other hondas had them I'm not sure if ours does b/c I haven't started modding mine yet) might be out of place or not catching the right current... make sure everything is plugged in right...

it should fit..
there's one guy on here who always raves that he's an "oddball who got a $75 CAI" and then switched the filters with a K&N filter and works great.. he didnt say anything about any problems

Just take the resonator off.... drop in a K&N filter (OEM replacement) and you have a very safe bet. If a CAI makes 5hp, this makes 4hp... make that 1hp with your driving! It costs $39... and you are done!
