My Sears Diehard Gold works just fine, but I don't have a system. Only thing is that the with the Diehard, the battery cover doesn't fit so nice.

I have an optima YT---ran it for approx 2 years, and it sitll works like new. gonna have to get a smaller civic battery soon, and have a buyer already lined up for my old optima. the problems i have read about with optima batteries regard the 51R series, or the civic batteries. I will be using a stinger when my SC goes in---I think I will always use a dry cell battery from now on, no mess!

You need to go with a some sort of dry cell battery with that stereo.

Optima
SVR
Odyssey

Do you have a Batteries Plus in your area.
http://www.batteriesplus.com/
They carry the Odyssey. Put a PC1200LMJT in the TL last month.

34/78 Yellow Top or Red Top should work well. You will have to use a mounting adaptor to get it to properly fit.

I think I've read that the Optima Blue Top (Marine) battery can also be used and has additional poles for hooking up accessories.

Which adapter? I looked at a few 34/78's at lunch & none of them had any sort of adapter. I saw 1 that had a plastic tie down for the sides.

And I guess the top battery cover won't fit anymore?

What bad did you hear about optima batteries? I have owned 3 optimas in 3 different cars including my CL, which I have had a yellowtop in for 2 years now, and have no problems. Optima is the shit. I have never heard a single thing wrong with them.

There is an adapter to raise the battery. With that size, the battery will sit a little low in the stock case. I don't have the adapter (couldn't find it), I just put some pieces of wood underneath it.

Mine only lasted 14 months before it took a dump. Seattle CL-S had a similar problem. It could be isolated to the 51R but I wasn't impressed with the Optima.

After I found the Odyssey, I'm a big fan.

odyssey batteries are by far the best ive seen

http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680mjt.htm

that little guy cranked my car no problem and powered an extra set of HIDs, 200w basslink, and a highly modded car. with zero dimming issues.

They were having issues with the 51R, at least that is what my local Interstate dealer told me. So Optima discontinued that battery. I haven't seen any issues locally with the Yellow Top and I run one personally and have sold a few to customers.

I also had an issue with a Red Top in my 300ZX and had to have that swapped out after around 3 years. At least I got a partial warranty on that one. Between those two, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth.

If you want to get a good battery that will not die after a night of leaving your lights on over night and/or playing your system for 6+ hours straight, then get the exide or deka (local comapies) Gel Cell batteries. They are EXPENSIVE, but my friend had his (now mine) 6000 watt system running for 6 hours and his car started right up. Not only that, the headlights were on too.

Oh and something that he had a problem with was that he had to replace/rebuild his alternators every month until he got this battery. His last alternator was still good when he sold the car. It was in there 5 months... Oh and for those of you who think that caps are a good investement, that was the first thing that he tried. He bought the biggest and best ones that he could find and it still ate his alternator. The battery is what helped him the most. I'll get the model number off of it later on. I have to go do a few things. And I'll add that he tried all the recomended Optima batteries. He sold them when the system still ate his aternator.

Approx. $ is about $250-$300, maybe more?
