i come to the 2g forum because alot of you 2g members are more mature and won't just say "2g cl-s go for it"like some of the younger members on the 1g forum. like i said i have a cushion and i am financially stable now(still live at home but pay my bills) but a cl-s will take away some of that cushion i have to fall on for just in case. i can afford it and be ok but my save $$ will be drastically affected due to a higher car note/insurance.as cl-s owners what is your opinion stay with the 1g or go 2g?

Just do it, if you can get 5k which I doubt find an 03 for around 17k and youre set..If you serious I know where there is an 2003 ABP for 18K, it's sick and if they had that car there when I bought my TL I would of bought that eventhough I needed 4 doors. You gotta also keep in mind about insurance, you will need full coverage and no one wants to insure your crazy ass now with a 5K car.

.it's funny can't get $2g's for a 95 neon with 19k but can get 5g's for a 97 cl with 146k

I'll tell you right now, the insurance is going to be a lot higher for the CLS....
I found that out last minute.........
Do what u feel tho.....
As soon as they come out with a new CLS u will want that too......B/c I'm going to have it!!!

i know about the insurance but it won't be that much of a change my insurance will still be more than my car note just gotta double the $$ on both.

its real easy man.. how important is your car in your life.. If it is a big thing for you, then no doubt get the 2nd gen cls.. We always make a sacrifice for the things that matter most and give us the most enjoyment.. The 2nd gen is a huge step up from the 1st gens.. It is worth havin a higher payment if you can afford it.. good luck...

oh, and as far as insurance goes.. I just went from a 99 tl to an 01 cl-s and my insurance went up 25 bucks every three months.... its still considered a luxury car, not a true sports car..

get the CL-S if you can afford it and really want it. the first gen is fucking ugly. fuck a black cl-s, get abp, it is beautiful and gets a lot of looks. if you can find one, get the 6mt and/or a model with navi, if it is in your price range. i will never own another car without navi.
sounds like you are a little hesitant because of the costs though.
just as a reference for you....i am 24,right now, i pay 153/month to state farm for 50k/50k coverage. only a few more months until the big 25 and my rate goes down thank god. i paid cash for the car so i don't have a car note, which helps a lot. i am not sure how you drive, but it is a fairly fast car and i have a lead foot....gas is expensive, think about how much you drive. since you are looking for something under the 17k range, think about its mileage and the cost of maintenance. from what i hear the timing belt/water pump maintenance is about 1k. perhaps you have some mechanical abilities that could help offset these costs..

i wouldnt exactly say fuck black, but i do agree that blue is gorgeous.. i wouldve bought mine in that color if i couldve found the same deal as i got on mine.. 01 cls with 60k miles for 10,500.. i wouldnt know about payments though.. I paid cash for mine.. BTW tallycl-s.. Im alum from that little university that is in your town.. Go mofuggin noles !!! notice the sticker on my rear window..

yeah, thats mainly what i do.. i manage the company and buy foreclosures and fix em up and flip em.. dont do too much of the sales side of the business anymore.. tally would be hard to do that cause u would need to rent them out instead of selling them.. ive done the renting thing before, dont like being a slumlord..

one of my friends back home does that. you would only have to do rentals if you were near campus though, that wouldn't be worth it because students trash everything. you should see some of the ridiculous condos they are putting up on monroe street across from the capitol building, the sign said "starting from 200K to 700K"

what? there are plenty of people in tally that can afford that. my parents have a deposit on one. have you ever been in the back of southwood or golden eagle or hawks ridge? it cost a million just for a pool house out in those communities.

my point was, granted there are people that can afford it, but most people would rather put that money in a real house with real land. if the condos overlooked the beach or some nice scenery, like in south florida or any big city, i think the price could be justified. i would never pay that asking price for a view of downtown tallahassee.
i have been out in all of those places, some people have huge beautiful homes, especially on live oak plantation. let's be real though, land value is a lot cheaper here than in other cities, so people can afford to build the huge southern-style homes here.
