01' CL-S 60,XXX miles. When I really get on it the car sputters between 5-6k rpms? It only does it in 1st gear. I took the Service advisor for a spin to show him the problem. Acura kept the car for two days...they said the could not duplicate the issue and give it some time to see if it works itself out. Well it did not. I went back and took the Tech who looked at it for a drive. He said there was nothing in the codes of the computer and that was about all they could do. I don't think its a tranny issue cause it is only in 1st and I'm on my second tranny. I've tried enjector cleaner...all of the usual home remedies. It appears to be more pronounced after turning a corner. ANY IDEAS???????????????

 

Axles or CV boots/joints? That's odd it only happens in first gear though.

Check your oil. Maybe something is wrong with the vtec engagement.

 

Why the hell is your car at 5 to 6K RPMs in 1st gear while driving? I can understand if you're accelerating from stop, but you said it's more pronounced when cornering.

 

I take it you're accelerating hard from stop. Or else it wouldn't make too much sence that your car is in 1st while driving.

Did they check your spark plugs when you were at the dealership? I had a similar problem with my Nissan and it went away when I changed the plugs.

 

from a hard stop or rolling from first....I have not changed the spark plugs yet....but I guess that would be the next step in troubleshoot. The scary thing now is that it did it on the freeway in fourth when I was trying to merge in front of a semi truck...I thought he was gonna destroy me.
