Answer

420= Catalytic (cat) ineffieciency (replace or inspect)
300= Random misfire probably assocaited with your bad coil pack.

I threw a P1399 last week...
I unplugged the e-manange, plugged back in the factory ECU, reloaded the e-manage map onto the unit and all is well.... but I am pretty sure you are not running e-manage..

check all your connection on the Unichip.

for your sake I hope it's the EGR . . . I can't imagine you installing the intake gasket upside down . . . unless you are old like me . . .

there is only one way to put that gasket on. .. I just changed it when I installed the I/C

acura tech told you that?.... the Helms says DTC: Random Misfire for 1399

P1399 is a temporary code that just means you had a misfire. Does not mean all cyls are misfiring. PO300 is a code that means random misfire. That just means that the misfire has not been pinpointed by the ecu. Might not be an individual coil if it's not isolated to one cylinder. Would be odd for more than one to fail at exactly the same time. The po420 code is for the catalytic converter efficiency as someone said. This could be a side effect of the mis or the rear oxygen sensor could be bad. Have you tried just pulling the #13 clock radio fuse and re-setting? Make sure to let the car set and idle afterwards until the fan comes on a couple times if you do. Does the car run bad like it's still missing? Could just be a fluke. Try the reset and see if the light comes back on.

hey i appreciate the help...but ...i know what the codes mean...its says what they are when it throws them...as mentioned in my previous thread...my car runs fine upto 4K after which time it falls on its face...it thows 9 codes...random multiple all 6 P0300 and P1399 and P0420 420 says to look for the other things first before assuming its the cat...1399 says egr cloged ports or gasket on upside down...300 say ignition system...

im looking for someone to tell me trouble shoot procedures

look for melting of the screen. severe deformation or it sounds like a big chunk of metal is rattling around in it.

helms says check fuel pressure, still looking for symptoms and procedures for the other codes. prolly due to misfire, that could hurt the cat and poison it, but not sure. Check fuel pressure, compression, bad gas, possible malfunction in the vtec, check valve clearance. all this according to helms.

did you recently change plugs or do any mods?

1st guess -- of many -- Unichip.

E-mail sent, but forgot to stress removing the Unichip first.

Did you remove the Unichip?

If not, think about doing this first.

More info in e-mail...

-Regards.

How long was it unplugged? Was it unplugged and the ECU reset?

That would be an area of concern as erratic MAP readings can certainly cause this. I would also be curious what the fuel trim values are as that is easier to check than fuel pressure. But next would definitely be fuel pressure.

I suspect it is fuel related but could be indirect by way of sensor misreadings.

Just FYI, I am at a customer facility with no phone access.

not very long...but i had the batter negative disconnected whil un plugging it so...yes the ecu would have been reset but did it need to stay out longer than just the immediate test drive?...also he said the fuel trims looked good
