Hello

Guess this is my hello post! Bought an 02 Acura CL with nav about a wekk ago and I'm excited to get it looking new again we'll see about mods once I got college paid for ha.

So uh. Anyone seen another member with this car? Just bought it out of phoenix, az the guy didn't keep records... but he was the one who mentioned this site to me. I'm trying to see if he made any posts on here about the vehicle to find some history/info about the mods he's done.

Ha so funny story. I talked him down 400 cause the SRS and passenger airbag lights were lit up.. took it in to the dealer ready to drop close to a grand on airbags and find out it was in an accident or something.. they covered it under warranty and I snacked on the free cookies and juice for 3 hours while they fixed it. HA!

No no no, I wasn't clear my bad. I was fearing the worst when I went to the dealer thinking it might have been in an accident. It was just a seat belt malfunction (SRS light) and the OPDS (passenger airbag light). Seat belts are lifetime warranty and the OPDS had a pretty fiesty warranty extension which I was covered under.

Congrats on the new car! I dont recognize it though. Looks like the springs are the old grey comptechs. Headlights need some wet sanding and theyll look 100X better.

Any ideas for mods?

I uh... just wetsanded them lol they look a lot better than before. And yea! That's ringing a bell the guy mentioned comptech springs when I bought it they're starting to sag though I think. Rubs with anyone in the backseat. Any info about the old grey comptechs would be much appreciated. I tried rolling the fenders with a bat.. bad idea I'm looking into maybe renting the actual tool.

Only thing I would do mod wise is a soundsystem probably some RE SX 10's or an FI BTL 18 ported through the rear deck but I need to figure out the rubbing issue before I put more weight on the rear end. I've already got some alpine type-r 6.5 components for the front from my previous vehicle but I'm still doing some research on the stock system seems like there's some funky ohm loads coming out of the bose amp?

Oops, I see the afters now. I just took a quick glance in your album and I guess the one picture of the headlight was a before.

About the springs, I think they were known to rust, not too sure though

If I remember, the Bose system runs at 1 ohm.

Im not a fan of the wheels, but otherwise nice pickup!

How much did you spend on it?

Welcome!

Looks like you picked up a nice one. Mods done already too. Nice.
Drop looks good, so does the paint.
My advice would be to de-badge the Acura emblems off the trunk and enjoy!
Read the 2G CL FAQ if you haven't yet, lots of great ideas in there.

Probably they didn't charge me for a diagnosis and then told me it was covered under warranty. Just call up your local dealer see if they charge for diagnostics.

i think so too, but not really a problem in AZ though, it's really dry there

wheels :thumbsdow, but otherwise on the pickup and welcome

motor mounts can be fairly common especially for some manual guys, but auto ones can destroy them too, so not surprising

the p/s, make sure it has the correct fluid in it, they make a special fluid just for hondas, otherwise they make a whining noise, so maybe try that first

proably, i know they did a silent extension warrenty on the srs light

also did you know you have a lifetime warrenty on the seatbelts too , if they don't retract properly and such (as long as the damage was not from an accident) or abuse

and yes i am dead serious about it too, also toyota has the same ordeal too i think (the only two manufactures that do it)

I know I was amazed when the dealer told me this! Outstanding service from Acura right there gotta hand it to em.

Haha and what exactly is it about the wheels that everyone hates? My girl said they look like a starfish...

Replaced the cabin air filter today. Didn't really need to I probably could have got another 8 years out of it like the last owner did..

Yea it does have trouble retracting. I have to pull on it a few times for it to retract.

, most of the time you gotta hassle them to get warrenty work done, maybe you actually have a good dealer then , but normally i would recommend an independent shop instead of the dealer, alot cheaper (you still pay for those donuts, maybe not this time, but you do), let alone independents shops can do alot better job then a dealer (not always but most of the time)

umm.... cause they do look like a starfish some (i can kinda see that in them

and that old cabin air filter does not look like it has been used 8 years, the thing would be plugged solid (so it has been replaced before, even then looks to be somewhat recent too, that blackish stuff you see on it, is the charcol in it, helps to eliminate some of the odors, like how charcol cleans up bad taste in water (more expensive filters got that)

maybe try cleaning the shoulder loops yourself (but if too lazy, warrenty might actually even cover that) they like to get grim built up on them especially right under the belt itself

try

As far as I know it's bone stock under the hood.

I thought charcoal filters were more for diesel applications? And yea it wasn't 8 years.. but it had been awhile. After I picked up the filters there was a solid rectangle of dirt left on the concrete from where I slammed them down onto the driveway.

http://www.boschautoparts.com/filter...alFilters.aspx

bosch here is normally not that good of a brand, i normally try and stay away from them, but you get the idea

yeah pretty stock looking to me, and man is that thing filthy, it really needs to be cleaned up, a pressure washer with engine degreaser works great for me, and only takes like 10-15 minutes max for me, may not be perfect (with those hidden spots), but will be 90% clean or so, it's just going to get dirty again (not as bad as your's though), so repeat every couple of months or as necessary

It's all stock exhaust as far as I can tell.

Little update.. just ordered the Option Racing underdrive pulley and snatched up them gatorback belts. I will be pestering the community if I get stuck during the install. Be ready.

Also, what the friggle frack is this hole in the center console for? It goes all the way under the cup holders and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna lose shit in there. Is it supposed to be there? My brother's type s 6mt ain't got nothing like this it's all sealed off.

x2 (or electronic device), better then having a cord run over the top

but yes it is there by design
also if you pull out the cupholder base (lift it at the back, like right below where your finger tips are) , it will give you slot like thing there, which seems to be kinda perfect for a cell phone cord

I tried pulling out the cupholder base the folding wood grain doors get in the way and sandwhich it in there. But yea I guess that would be handy for a cell phone charger, I would probably use it for an ipod charger.
