rp_guy is correct. After looking at the specs, the upgraded DE's are the same. except for the decorative bezel and 4point mounting frame. If you do want them though they can be bought for $105 here. Maybe ebay? However if money is an issue. Find some blazer fogs and retrofit those.

I like the sound of $105 a lot better than $438.95. BUT those are the Hella 50mm Halogen Module 12V Fog Lamps. Can I use the halogen fog lamps for my HIDs or do I need the xenon fog lamps for better light output?

They are still a projector just with a halogen bulb. The $400 ones already come with ballasts and hid bulbs. Just get a cheap 3000k h3 hid kit instead. If you already have a kit you'll have to either modify the housing to make it work or find projectors that work with your kit like the lexus es300 projectors mentioned.

Awesome, I am probably going to buy those Hella 50mm Halogen Module 12V Fog Lamps for $105.99. I should not have to modify these housings since my ORACLE HID Kit is 35w and H3 bulb size...

I spent around $75, that's including mounting hardware, wiring, HID kit, and the ES300 projectors.

Are you sure it's $105 a piece? In the item's description is states "Hella 50mm Halogen Module 12V Fog Lamps" [plural].

I havent installed them yet. BTW, the 50mm part in the product name is a bit misleading. Thats the size of the lense. The rest of the housing is friggin HUGE. Im still trying to figure out how/where to mount them. They may end up on my motorcycle though.

How big is the 4-point attachment mounting frame [length X width]? I would like to remove my road lamps, use the mounting frame of the fog lamps to mount it to the rear of the bumper in the fog light location, and surround the lens with stainless steel fine diamond mesh to hide the mounting frame so only the silver bezel shows.

So I have been doing some research and have discovered that there are 3 main different types of modules that make-up the Hella family of 50mm modules [http://www.hella.com/produktion/HellaUSA/WebSite/Channels/Drivers/Products/Performance_Lighting/Modular_Headlamps/mm50/mm50.jsp]: xenon main beam (12V & 24V), 12V low beam (xenon & halogen), and fog lamp (12V & 24V). Since I already have a H3 HID kit, I can count out the main beam modules (since they only come in xenon) and the xenon low beam module. That leaves the halogen low beam module and fog lamp modules for consideration. Since the fog lamp modules have the same "fluted lens" design as the Hella Micro DE lamps, that counts them out as well. Thus, it appears that the halogen low beam is the best option for someone who already has a H3 HID kit and wants the best light output. If anyone disagrees with the above information or has anything to add, please do so. Below are pictures of the low beam and fog lamp modules.

What is the difference between light style: driving and light style: fog??

first of all, you should not use a retrofit HID in a light design for halogen bulbs, completely different focal point in the bulb itself, so you will pu major glare into oncoming drivers eyes, let alone getting horrible light patterns, so if you want HID, i would just get the HID light first

then the differnce in light style, is how far each reach down the road and how wide they spread the light
driving lights will basically be like your current low-beams, but will help fill them out though, then fogs throw out a wider pattern then that, but then they also don't go down the road as far (think of your "lo" beams as your "hi" beams, then put the fog as your new "lo" beam, and that will basically be the difference, just not as far down the road though)

Hella's Contact Number

Does anyone know how I can contact Hella by phone? I sent them a message on their website and also an e-mail about 2½ weeks ago and still have not received a response back. I cannot find their contact number; I only found their e-mail [hella.faq@hella.com].

If I have to buy an xenon lamp kit for my HID kit, I might as well buy the Hella Micro DE Xenon Driving Kit instead of the Hella 50mm Xenon Low Beam Module. I am curious if I would be able to buy just the two Micro DE Xenon lamps and mounting hardware. I do not need the D2S Xenon capsules, Generation 3 ballast units and wiring harness with relay since I already have a H3 HID kit installed with a '03 Acura TL OEM fog light switch assembly. I would hate to spend ~$800 for components that I already own [http://tiny.cc/udinv].

Here is a picture of the Hella Micro DE Xenon lamp:

I am curious how the "Hella" logo in the middle of the lens will affect light output.

Here are some old output shots of the Hella 009071081 I have. First are with the H7 bulb they ship with, the second batch is with a DDM 3000k H7 kit. I am quite impressed with the cutoff and output, even though they get "lasered" towards the outside of the beam. If they weren't so big, theyd be on the CL. Im probably going to mount them on my motorcycle though.

55W Halogen:

35W HID:

You'll notice that, oddly enough, the light spread is smoother with the HID bulbs. Thats most likely due to the fluted lense. This particular model doesn't have the normal horizontal/vertical flutes. Instead these are flutes are in circular patterns starting at the center of the lense and working their way out.

You'll also notice that these have a relatively large hotspot on the center of the beam. Thats because these arent fog lamps. Fog lamps have a wide, low beam. Driving lamps (which these are) shine much further then fog lamps. Hence the reason I will most likely mount these on my bike, as I dont need it to project down the road, my head lights already do a damn good job of that.

Those things are freakin' HUGE! Is there a number to contact Hella either on the box/lamp/instructions/etc.?
