Hell Yeah!!! Just got back from the track...

Well, last time I ran at the track w/ my S/C and HBP I got a best of 14.1 @ 102. I took off my 19's and put back the stock wheels wrapped w/ SO3's. I got 7 runs in and these 3 were my best:

60'----2.253----------2.142-----------2.290
1/4---13.868---------13.692---------13.777
MPH--104.53---------104.98---------105.47

I'm pretty happy w/ the S/C now. A 13.6xx is damn good IMO. More than that, look at those trap MPH's!!! 105 MPH is pretty damn fast!

The bad news is now I have to decide if I want the GO or the SHOW. I love my 19" Se7en Mods but they are soooooo damn heavy (and w/ more weight at the periphery). The stock wheels are just horrible in comparison. Maybe I'll copy MattG and get some polished RPM's.

To top it all off, I got to put a CTS in it's place on the way home by about 3 car lengths from 70-100ish.

Mad props though!

I gate shifted that one. I actually don't think I did any better (on average) between gateshifting and SS.

Remember, I'm running an Auto. I'm guessing a well-driven 6-spd can knock another .5 or so off these times.

Damn... I'm auto, too... That's depressing that just having a 6-speed can take that much time off...

Very nice runs Tom. What a difference those wheels made.

What were the conditions (Temp, humidity) Any Pinging? Did you disconnect your IMRC on these runs?

Sweet...

Yep, those are nice ETs and the your trap speed looks good too

Be interesting to see what you'd do with some really light wheels!

With some light rims you'll be in the low 13's.

Congrats on an awesome run !!

I'm not so sure about the 6 speed running any quicker though.

Keep the heavy wheels OFF !!!!!!!!!!! Half a second is HUGE, stick with lighter wheels. You give me hope, when i have the HBP on and a 95 octane mix going, i'll hit the track on a nice cool night !!

I turned up the fuel pressure as per Shad at Comptech. No pinging noticed since then. I left the IMRC intact. The temp was about 75 and the sky was teasing us all w/ potential rain. Not exactly sure of the % though.

I honestly don't see how I could get a 2.0 or better w/o DR's. Of course, I don't exactly have a ton of track time under my belt.

I know, I'm really torn right now. I LOVE the look of the 19's compared to ANY 17" wheel out there...but I'm losing serious power w/ them.

I think Matt is just a better driver than me. My SO3's on the stock wheels are stickier than his Parada Spec-2's...I know, since my 19's are wrapped in the Spec-2's.

You should of seen some of the cars I lined up against. There was this blond driving this awesome yellow Mustang Shelby and another time this older white Grand National (he said the year but I forget). Both cars jumped easily 3-4 cars on my out of the hole but I ended up getting almost identical 1/4 times. The difference was I was trapping 105 and they were in the mid-90's. I spoke to the GN guy after and he was like "dude you just passed me at the 1/4 mark like I was standing still". I was about 8 mph faster than him so thats like a car driving past me at 8mph while I'm sitting on my ass having a beer. Kinda cool what kind of power this car has up top.

great times. Compromise and get some lightweight 18s. Maybe get some SSRs or some other forged light weight wheels. Keep the look but keep some performance. Isn't typeR running some 18" OZ SLs?

Maybe RedRider can chime in, but I'm guessing the B-pipe will add 8-10whp w/ forced induction (assuming you already have headers and exhaust).

Before I got the Axis wheels I had almost bought the same wheels as MattG...18" Centerline RPM's. How would the powdercoated RPM's look on a silver CL?

Those are excellent numbers. My best 1/4 mile time was almost identical to yours but my MPH is almost 2 less then yours(102.5??). I do have the B-pipe and my best is 13.68. Congartulations on those really good runs.

I think he's still running SSR Comps.

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...SR#post1731059

A set of bling-bling "drive-around" 19s would ne pretty sweet with some very light 17s for strip use...

The 17x8 +48 offset SSR Comps are VERY light compared to stock. When I swapped out the stock wheels for the SSRs, the difference was very noticeable.

14 lbs + Toyo 235/45-17 @ 23.8 lbs ~= 38lbs per tire/wheel vs. 52lb total for MXM4 (26lbs) + stock '01 wheels (26lbs) = 52lbs/(tire+wheel).

14 lbs * 4 = 56 lbs less rotating mass. Doesn't seem like much, but its like dumping a passenger -- or more than a full tank of gas.

That 56 lbs of rotating weight is equivalent to about 3x static weight. So, 56 * 3 = 166 lbs of static weight. That's ~= passenger or a full tank of gas.

Do you notice the difference in acceleration when you've got close to 200lbs of passenger in your car?

Do you notice the difference in acceleration between full tank and near empty?

Rotating weight (inertial effects) != static weight.

A good rule of thumb when the weight (actually mass) is lost at the outside of the rim is about 3 x (rotating mass) === static mass.

OK?

To put things in perspective: go to the track and do a run with a big guy in the passenger seat – and then without them.

BTW, I'd like to find a 60lb person to drive the car for great times. Know of any anorexics or bulimics that drive well?

Oh, and they have to be able to reach the pedals….

I think they are avalible in some sort of black pearl finish or something similar. I think it would look sweet.
