Heated seats not working?

With my luck, during the coldest week Ive ever had, my heated seat has stopped working. I will put it on high and forget about it during a 30 min car ride, when before after 10 min my butt would be scorching hot. has this happened to anyone? is it a quick fix or lengthy? Thanks

Does it not work at all, or does it stop working after a while when you leave it on high? The owners manual says it should be put on high for a few minutes until it's warm, then switch it to low, that way it doesn't over heat.

Blown Fuse ?? Check the owners manual and check the fuse for the seats...

Really need more info... Does the light on the heat button come on ?? Passenger side work at all ??

<=== has a 6spd, so no high/low stuff, just on or off...

Your heating elements probably shorted out.

my pass side heated seat never worked. the first winter i got my car my GF noticed that her toosh was freezing and mine was warm. all fuses are good, so im assuming the heating element is shorted out. i never was too sure if it was an easy fix or not.

Had mine fixed under warranty. I think they had to take the leather off the seat to replace the heating element. Dealer sent it to there upholsterer for part of the job.

My passenger seat stopped working a few months ago as well. I checked the fuses and they were alright. Haven't checked anything else yet.

Yeah, your heating element is out. There's a couple threads in the 2nd Gen TL forum about fixing/replacing them. You will need to remove the seat, then the leather.

My passenger and driver's back is out. My bottom still works though.

Basically, it seems to be a common problem.

I thought only the drivers side back section had a heating element but the passenger side doesn't

You're right. My wording is misleading. I meant my passenger is out and only the back on the driver's side.

The back pad for the driver's side is about $80. The bottom is about $105.
Passenger bottom is about $130.

This issue really sucks because I only have 65,000 miles on my mdx and both front seat heaters are broken!

when my seat warmer went it was a burnt out wire. i cut it and soldiered in a new one and it was fixed.

note the wire was not visibly mangled, there was a black burn mark on the material holding the heting element together, that was the only sign it was burnt out.

u need to remove the seat, remove the seat cover till u find the fray in the wire that burnt out... mine was in the very back of the passenger seat and that made only one side heat up somehow.

either way. acura wanted like 800 or something ludacris to fix it... it cost me 6-8 hrs of my time. so thats a good 100/hr saved
