Hmmm. I've never sat in my passenger's seat, except maybe to clean around it.

How do you you know it gets less hot? Did you turn both on and do a butt thermometer test?

Seriously though, maybe the heating element on the passenger's side is smaller because of the SRS side impact system. Just a guess.

mine was getting less hot than drivers, in fact, it was so weak you could barely feel it. dealer replaced heating element. its a common problem with heating seat, heating elements go bad very offten.

Soem cars are wierd. One of my parents cars ( a 3.5 RL or the Mazda Tribute )only has 1 true heated seat. The drive has back and bottom heated. But the passenger has only the bottom because of the air-bag in the seat. For some reason I think he said it was the RL......

I had two cls and it was equal on both sides because I often had passenger telling me that the seats heated a lot more than their car

I took my 01 CLS into the dealership to look at my heated seat (driver). I do not think it even works, but they said they tested it and it got to 120 degrees. I don't believe that. My BF has an 02 CLS and his seat heaters work fine. Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to replace the heat element if that is the problem? Please email me if you have any clue. utahgal411@yahoo.com

if your dealer is like most they're just wasting your time. if you really think it's not working take the car to a local auto upholstery shop. they should be able to evaluate it for you. i'm sure they can repair it.

you'll have to decide if it's worth the cost. if it's affordable just have it fixed. if the car is still under warranty and if it's too expensive to fix get a written quote for repairs. either way go to the small claims court (probably at your local district court building) and file a small claims complaint for restitution. you can submit either the cost of repairs or the estimate of repairs. you'll have to do a little research to determine the owner of the dealer who refused repairs (you'll need to find someone called the "resident agent" and the name of the business (the name on the dealership is called the "trade name" and this isn't sufficient for the courts). the clerks office in the small claims office can assist you in finding this info or you can write to the state's attorney general's office. they can tell you where to find this as well.

good luck.

Finally

The service manager finally emailed me after several phone call attempts to the service tech and sales manager. I had to email the service manager to get anything done. He ordered my parts for the seat and will call when they come in to schedule an appointment. Come to find out the dipshits checked the wrong seat. DUH!

Only the ass portion of my CL heats on either side. Do I understand correctly that the BACK should also heat up?

Hmm, interesting, I think I'll try mine out, I have been told by passengers when their ass starts getting warm, but never compared it to my seat (drivers)

Neither upper nor lower of my seat works, as you probably read above. Hopefully the dealership order the heating elements for both upper and lower. Now is the time I need it. It is soooo cold here in Utah already.

how warm does the driver side back get? The bottom works fine, actually gets too hot, but I'm not feeling the same heat coming from the back of the seat.
