Headlights Peeling?

Last night I went out to the car and I happened to notice that the headlights looked funny. It looks like they are peeling. If you have ever seen a car that had the clear coat coming off, that is what they look like. I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them, or if you know if our housings have an coating on them that could be coming off?

Thanks

Take it to the dealer and get a new headlight.

My Ex's '03 had some funky shit on the headlights that I tried to buff off but it was a no go. I said same thing, 1.) Take to dealer 2.)Get new headlight 3.) Leave happy with warranty work done by idiot sercie department.

I have the same thing happening to mine on the driver's side. It has started from the top and is making its way down. I don't have a warranty anymore so it's probably gonna cost me.

Dealer replaced my drivers side........I'm still under warranty, but the dam thing is pointing almost directly at the ground. I mean like 2 feet in front of the car. Isn't there a screw just under the hood for adjustments.

sorry for the hi-jack

Yes my headlights were aimed perfect from the factory, then I lowered my car and they were all off. When I had it aligned I had them adjust the lights and they pointed them at the ground. So I just raised them back up. There is a screw right behind the light. I argued with them for about an hour as to why they won't put them to factory specs and it turns out that so many idiots complained about HID lights over the years that now they have to be aimed so low that its a hazard for the car with the HIDS.

P.S. I haven't taken care of the peeling yet because I have a ton of warrenty left and don't want to make a special trip to the stealership. Next time I have to go for something more serious I will mention it to them.

funny you mentioned the lowering, I asked them to fix the headlamp and make an adjustment because the front of my car is 1.5 inches lower now. Thanks for the tip on the screw, i will check it tonight....

No there is no factory mark.

If you stand looking at the drivers side headlight and look down into the engine bay you will see the coolant overflow container. Now look just to the right of that and you will see a gray bolt with a place to put a screwdriver into the side of it. Thats your up/down. The passenger side looks the same and once you know what it looks like you should be able to find the passeger side on your own. Sorry I don't have any pics.

P.S. You will most likely need a light to see it

peeling....

I'm a little late on the post I apologize. I took my 01 CL in to the dealer for the headlights (peeling) on the outside, looks like crap and rough to the touch. They told me they wouldnt cover it because thier theory was the car had been touch up painted on the front, and that the headlights got some clearcoat overspray on them, and that's what the crap is on my lights. He said he has seen this before...and that I could get it off with some mothers polish. That crap is not coming off....Should this be a warrantied thing?

It was Superior Acura on Rt 4 in Cincinnati, which goofed up fixing a different problem.

Thats good they are replacing them. I had that same problem and the only thing that fixed it was Meguiars Plastix (spelling) My head lights looked like crap and this stuff really worked well. So if you don't have warranty left use that stuff, a clean rag and lots of buffing and they will look almost as good as new.
