I had my hid, right side, go out about a week ago. It was the control unit, ballast or inverter, three names same thing. Here's a little diagnostic you might be able to do. The above part that went bad for me, when it is working properly makes a humming sound. With the engine off you should be able to faintly hear it. My fuse also kept blowing, my guess is you have the same bad part I had. The fuse compartment is in the engine compartment, on the passenger side, there's a fuse for the left and right hid lights.
$$$
Edit: Ooops, thought you said your fuse was out. In that case probably the ignitor, like Darrinb said.

If you moved the ground to install a cai you check to see if its a little loose. My head light did the same thing a couple days after I installed and that was why.

chemmech what did it cost to fix? I have this same problem with fuses blowing. just a note to add. this started about two weeks after the dealer did the recall work on the transmission to install a pump of some sort to keep it cool. being a suspicious type, I did'nt rule out the possibility of them installing a problem to get business.

Soopa there are relays and fuses for the low beams in the engine compartment fusebox .Verify this stuff is working by swapping the relays around they are known to crap out .Next if you have access to a testlight just check the connector going to the headlamp assy. and verify 12 volts and a good ground .If all of this has passed then there is a good chance either the inverter (part below the headlamp assy) or the ballast (part on the rear of the bulb) has failed .
