Headlight bulb , ballast question?

I did a search and found some stuff so please dont b!tch for asking!
My headlight was flickering awile back (like a year ago)and not come on I had to shut lights off/on till they came on then they stay on! It worked fine for a year and now the same thing but now the light will not stay on for more then a minute. I am going to replace the bulbs (even though it may be the ballast) becuz I need new bulbs (they are original 9 years old) .
So I wanted to know of any websites that sell direct OEM replacements that will work in our ballasts either 6000-8000 color. I do not trust ebay (had 2 bad expirences so just want to buy from website) So I wanted to know if anyone delt with a webste where i can buy oem replacement bulbs that work in our ballasts with a fair price? I am going to take the lights abart and check wires and connections but might as buy new bulbs cuz like I said they are 9 years OLD so eventully I will need new bulbs, If its the ballasts then I will deal with that LATER.
THANKS GUYS!!!!!!

Go look at Kaixens Groupbuy in the Sponsored Sale BM, they sell bulbs for very cheap in a wide range of colors. Also, Excelerate can get them for you too.

I know you have your doubts about Ebay, but try the seller AkinaBoy. He's been my HID go-to guy for years and back when I had my Audis, the guy sells nothing but great products at a great price, and I know many members here on AZine can vouch for him.

As per the flickering problem. It can either be the ballast, or bulb, OR it could be the wiring leading to/from. On my old A6 the xenons would flicker and the light would go out, then come back on after hitting bumps etc, I found out it was a loose/stripped wire, so a little TLC and electrical tape and she held up fine.

There is also a ballast + OEM D2R bulb sale going on in Private sales in the BM as well.

go to theretrofitsource.com

they have OEM Phillips bulbs there for at most $150 for the pair.

they also sell OEM replacement ballasts for $150 at most for the pair...so either way you can pick up a set of bulbs and ballasts for at most $300 lol

change out the bulbs L <--> R and that way you can see if it the bulb or ballast.

well if the bulb flickers but stays on for a little bit then dies, its the bulb, if it was the ballast, it wouldnt turn on at all.

doesnt matter what type of bulb temperature you use with the stock ballasts.

these are OEM Acura/Honda ballasts:
http://store.theretrofitsource.com/p...21ef274bcdeb06
and these would be your bulbs (4300K):
http://store.theretrofitsource.com/p...21ef274bcdeb06

oh and to get the best possible light output from your HIDs Id also recommend purchasing an Optima Red Top battery

I just ordered these to replace bothe my bulbs:

The imported Morimoto 6000K D2S bulbs are perfect for those looking for a bright white output with a tinge of blue.
If you want to stand out on a crowded highway, go with the 6000K bulbs.

6000K is the highest we recommend going, since after that the light intensity starts falling off rapidly.
The bulbs are brand new, in their original factory packaging.
These "D2S" bulbs are compatible with every kind of projector and ballast we sell.

The Morimoto series is unquestionably the highest quality aftermarket bulbs available.
Precision aligned capsule, quartz glass tube, Pax-Air salts, titanium tube frame = performance and quality.
Comes with a one year worry-free replacement warranty
Also included are alcohol swabs to prep the bulbs before installation, ensuring their longevity.
Special introductory price of only $45/pair.

Can't go wrong for $45 a pair!
These will work fine with our ballast in our cars, correct?
They are 6000 color I think stock is 4300, so these will be more BLUE, im guessing.
I will switch one out and take a pic to see the difference!
Thanks for the site...GREAT PRICES!!!!!!

I just installed the new 6000 HID bulbs and they fire right up..
It was pretty easy to install them the only thing I had trouble with was getting that metal paper clip looking thing back in the right spot to hold the bulb in!

Hey guys I have a question on a similar issue. I just started driving my car after storing it for the past year. Upon driving I realized that my passenger headlight was not working. When I took a look at it I found that it flickered a bit as if it wanted to come on but wouldn't. It actually came on once for about 10 seconds then stopped. I tried to replace the bulb but it didn't fix the issue. I checked the connections on the back of the light and they seemed good to go... the dealership told me it was likely the inverter? any suggestions? I have an 03 cl-s 6 sp

Yes it is 99% the inverter i had 2 go bad all-ready.
Call up some junkyards the dlr wants $300 just for the part.
I found 2 headlight casings 2 bulbs and 2 ballasts for $250 shipped from a junkyard in Texas. Call junkyard in your area..
E-bay has a few but they are like $250 for 1 inverter/ballast!
