Headers - worth the investment?

Would like to hear the pro and cons of adding headers to the CL-S.

Is it worth the investment of $1200 +? From what I've read there is really no improvement in horsepower until you get to 5000-7000 RPMs. At this RPM range the gain can be from 15-30 added HP.

I am glad I got my headers because now when I wind out the rpms up to redline I can feel a continuing pull all the way, it's very noticable. Before the pull kind of maxed out at 5500rpm or so. Worth it in my opinion.

Extra Pull all the way up the RPM Range.

Better Gas Mileage by a "TAD" ( don't ask me to describe a "TAD" please) when your Not into it. Just a "Hint" of a little extra sound as well, but NOT much

Cheers

They are a Good Investment

It's simple really--if you want to get the maximum performance out of your car then you have no choice but to get them. If this is not a concern to you then by all means save the cash and buy something else.

You won't put the headers on and feel like a supercharger was installed and only you can decide whether it's worth the money or not.

Personally, I knew I wouldn't be happy until I squeezed all of the performance out of the CL. Whether or not I can put a price tag on how much that was worth to me, well, that's hard to say, but I guess it was worht more than what the headers cost.

I have the headers and personally don't think they're worth the $1200. I've even considered selling them but by the time you figure in depreciation and the cost of re-installing the old headers, it becomes cost prohibitive. It's true you don't get anything out of them except above 5000 rpms and the gain is barely noticeable at that. The positive effect on gas mileage is good though if you can keep your foot out of it. If they only cost $900 installed, then I'd say go for it. Otherwise, you might want to think long and hard on this one....

I recommend them. Yeah, most of the serious gain is over 5000 rpm, but i'm amazed how much i get up there thanks to the SS mode. I feel the extra kick in the butt, and if it's available i want it.

True- you dont feel the headers kick in until you get to the high RPM's, but if you use SS mode effectively, you will be in Comptech Bliss! Headers are expensive, but I never have regreted purchasing them! As for gas, I get less mileage only because I drive more agressively with the headers.

Are the Comptech headers a perfect fit?

Any increase in heat under the hood without the heat shield? If so, is this a problem?

Any change in engine sound? Louder?

The headers are a perfect fit. There is some increase in underhood heat but not enough to affect performance or damage surrounding rubber tubings; however, having said that, there were instances of alternators being damaged from the heat in Accords with 4 cylinder engine. This occurred with the DC Sports headers.

If I have a CL-S, why would I even bother to race another CL-S??? Even if I had headers I wouldn't because we would be dead even to the next traffic light anyway

Man my engine bay is already always super hot. They really should ventilate it more. Maybe a ram air hood.

That's what I thought when I first got the car. but people around this area all want to race all the time. Even old folks.

I got the headers from Tim at www.autocarparts.com -- you can trust him and he is very reliable!

The headers are great for 5K to 7K performance...

The stock exhaust manifold has very bad gas flow
