Headers Shift Question
Headers Shift Question
Just wondering if this happened to anyone else with Headers (OBX specifically)
I was driving today and had the car in D5. Floored it merging on the highway, and once the headers hit their stride around 5500, the RPM's shot up (as usual)... But the strange thing is that my car bounced off off the rev limiter at 7100 before shifting to third (edit.. sorry). (It was a split second between bouncing off the limiter and shifting though)
I tried it again coming back from work, and the same thing happened. It seems that the OBX headers are making the engine rev so quickly that the tranny can't keep up????
Very strange... Never noticed this before today....
Did this happen to anyone else?

If you are saying that you are in AUTO (not SS) and it stays in 1st until 7100 rpm, I think you might want to think about having someone look at the car.
I've got light wheels, Comptech headers, AEM intake and I've never hit the rev limiter in "D5/D4" auto mode when in first gear.
There is not that much difference between the two headers to make the engine rev so fast to hit 7100 rpm (unless you have pulleys, light wheels, and other mods you are not mentioning).
The normal shift out of 1st gear is pretty conservative.
If you don't have every bolt on that is currently available, you might think about having someone look at your tranny. The increased power could easily cause the 1st gear clutch pack to slip (AKA flare).

I was thinking it might be a tranny issue actually - Although I have had no other issues with the tranny... I guess I'll see how it goes. I have stock rims. Actually... my apologies.. I meant shifting to third. I don't know what I was smoking at the time I wrote that...
Otherwise the car works perfectly. No other mechanical issues
