First of all, it's WEGA. Second, comptech headers are on order.

I suppose, considering most HAVEN'T had fitment and quality issues

600$ seems like a HUGE peace of mind

actually, we should say 900$ considering OBX's can be had for around 315 shipped these days

OBX... and didn't have any fitment problems that I know of. At least, none that the dealer mentioned after installation.

Ok the ones that have never had a history of cracking. Having 4 or 5 cracked headers is enough to ruin a companies reputation. If you can find one cracked Comptech header then your point is valid and they have been around longer.

Comptech has an impeccable reputation when it comes to quality. In 2 years that OBX is out they have had multiple problems which reflects poorly no matter how debated.

Actually if you want to get technical the first few batches of headers Comptech sold had a ton of problems when they were first released, and they had to stop production, fix them, then re-release them. Same thing happened with the OBX... only the first few batches had problems.... none since.... so it's pretty much a draw at this point.

I understand comptech having problems with initail batch...that is common for almost anything new to the market. I couldnt speak about the problems but were they quality related or fitment. Not all metals are the same and Ive had OBX and Comptech in my hand and there is a difference in construction.

Comptech products are track tested products while OBX isnt even acura-cl forum proven. You get what you pay for and that holds true for most things...why buy diamonds when you can buy moissanite.

looks like OBX is pretty acl proven so far, aside from a few cases that haven't been reported in that thread but have been reported on the board ( I can maybe think of 3-4, which were all fixed very easily and cheaply)

No one is saying that comptechs quality is not unreal and BETTER then OBX's

Yeah but the difference with Comptech's problem is it was pretty minor, the bellows were too tight causing some resonance. And it wasn't a widespread problem. I know of two other people on the TL board that had problems, and again, it was pretty minor.

OBX. Let's see:

1) Cracked welds
2) Mounting holes not lining up
3) 02 sensor mount not in the right place

Yeah that's the same.

Yeah that's the same.

but in how many cases? As I said, check out the link I posted above. There are VERY few problems w/ the OBX headers and those that had problems had it fixed easily and cheap. As far as I know the 02 sensor problem was w/ the stones. For 900$ more I sure hope the comptechs wouldn't have those problems. But for 900$ less, most anyone is willing to work around those problems.

and as you said about comptech, the problems w/ OBX have been pretty minor also

OBX's were on my car, no problems, other than a little exhaust sagging. I had no fitament issues. All lined up. I say were because I took the OBX's off this past weekend and went back to stock, mainly due to my trying to find an SMR 6 speed.

" Alpha Werks" get it ?

Guess if I paid over close to $1200 (incl install) labor or more for a set of Solid Gold Headers I would be defensive to.

stones ,, once I followed the comptech install procedure every thing has been fine . They did require some internal clean up before install,,, this was the first batch,,, I believe this has been addressed with the next group buy. Total dallars spent was $600 w/install,,, although the place that did the install wrong did charge me $200. But has since installed my new rotonda brake kit, no charge, installed and resurface my mini van brakes,,no charge,, let me put my 66 mustang on a rack and let me work on it,,, again good places are hard to find,,,

CARB certification means you are guaranteed not to have to yank your third-party performance parts to pass California's stringent smog test. I paid $850 for new Comptechs, and do not regret it. In fact, it's my second pair! My previous CL-S was totalled March of last year, and the damage made the headers inaccesable. The original set had the resonance issue, but the posted fix took care of that.
