That sounds similar to the problem I had when I fist installed the XS headers, with their gaskets. Switched them out for stock gaskets and all was well.

Anyone have the dynos of before and after? Even the Comptech dyno would be fine.

So after reading this thread it seems like short of Nitrous or the Supercharger Kit a header is the best bang for your buck modification to make power out of the CL, is that correct? Just wondering because I know on the Prelude the DC Sports and other Production Headers like that had minimal gains if any, the only way to get gains was out of a custom header from Hytech or SSR or something, seems like that's different for the CL?

sounds like resonance. thats the problem with these cheap headers....the inner welds are absolute shit, but the outside looks great so you never know.

the air is not flowing smoothly through the pipes around the welds which in turn causes the resonance.

That's correct. Header is will add the most power short of NOS or supercharging. Getting an air intake like Comptech Airbox is the next best and adds something like 14hp.

I could have sworn that the Comptech airbox added at least 10HP. This is from an old thread when the airbox first came out. Dyno'd stock and with the airbox on.

I gained about 16 ft-lbs of torque at 3500 rpm
and i gained about 16 hp at 4500 rpm!!!!

E-Ram just causes an obstruction more then anything else. There was a car mag a while back that hooked a leaf blower to a Mustang intake and they were able to get several PSI of boost though.

Well i got them to stop leaking. They are LOUD at higher rpm's, massively loud, I love them. I didn't get into them before becaues of the niose it was making but i got into her today after work and SHIT,... you can feel the differance. It grabbs the shit out of 2nd.
All & all I don't like the fitment that much because i had to get a pri-bar in their and move it while i was tightening the bolts ..... but no leakes now, so i'm loven them.
Thanks to all you guys for the info and sorry for kinda taking over this post.
i what to post picts but we all know what they look like.

i just installed my xsp headers today. started at 5, finished at 6:30. it was two of us working on the car, the motor was fucking hot.

also took off the strut bar, just for the hell of it. and yes, it did make accessibility a little easier.
it was done on a lift too.

I wrapped the complete down pipe w/ exhaust wrap. wrapped the flex pipe twice because i had all the xtra wrap sitting around.

I did buy the bolts/nuts/locking washers from home depot.

The only problem i have now is that the headers and the down pipe didnt line up properly, they're a little twisted around, by about 5 - 10 degrees. will have to get fatter bolts to fix that.

power wise,

1st gear, almost the same
2nd, little better
3rd, WOW
4th, eh . . .
5th, didnt have space to go that far!

I did waste about 3/8s of the tank in less than 30 miles!

I think adjusting the angle of the headers and the downpipe connection should make it a little better because its off by a little bit.
