i would be afraid that the thickness of the metal from the cheaper header brands would cause an unwanted sound.. and sound is a big thing for me

XS headers have been out of stock for atleast a year, and I don't think they will ever be in stock again, there just too lazy to edit their website.

well the first set of headers I ordered I ordered them off ebay through they were OBX headers APPARENTLY ... i forgot his name... ppl on Azine had used him before and said they were happen with him etc. I got the headers and instantly I was appauled at the quality. The ceramic coating was like... painted on, u could scratch it off very easily, the inside where the piping met wasn't joined well at all, u could see they just ground down the excess and didn't polish or fine sand or nothing. The outside welds were not consistent, some parts were thick others were thin. OH and the front header on the most right runner had a big dent in it.

Pretty much everything was bad about them I could have Imagined.... everything. I did not even ATTEMPT to put them on, My car deserves better, much better. I sold them on kijiji for like 150 or 200 i cannot remember. cut my losses and just waited till some used Comptech's rolled around and i pounced on them.

like i drove to get them the same day I was offered them.

if there is one thing I am all for getting used, it's exhaust components (aside from a cat).

best 450 i ever spent

Reading is fundamental.

The 8-15whp is on the Accords. Im not the only one that knows the headers add ~20hp, kid.

And if I recall correctly, the collector on the XS headers are actually bigger then that on the CT headers.

If spending over $1k on headers that are nearly identical to my XS headers helps you sleep at night, then so be it. Dont automatically assume cheaper parts are inferior.

my xs headers sound like a turbo spooling up cause the metal is so thin. It annoyed me at first but got used to it and when people ride with me they always ask if im boosted.

I have had DC sports on my car for over a year they are great, I got a CARB (not that I need it in AZ) sticker from DC, they are powdercoated and do a great job.

Why is it people can't have a difference of opinion without getting all pissy?

I am not saying we should have the same opinion. I am saying why do people get angry when it happens.

cause people are naturally stubborn and if they are told something different their first conclusion is they are wrong and "that cannot be" so they opt to get angry about it since their intelligence is being insulted.

it's pretty obvious really.

But it takes a bigger man to admit he's wrong and learn from it, then it does to say, "F u i'm right" and not think twice about it.

I've met many many many people who have their pride hurt by a simple difference of opinion.

That's just how she goes i guess, sux to be them

you could always get the cheapo headers and then header wrap them and that should solve the noise issue.

LOL mine are comptech's with A LOT ($100+) of DEI header wrap on them. so they are quite, really quite

Do you mean quiet? As in make no noise?

My DC Sports are also quiet. I had them before the CAI which is where my noise came from (until the exhaust) which is quite noisy.

yea man there needs to be a bend in the rear header to clear the motor mount. Comptech and one other company sells them. Someone plz chime in who that company is.

Only comptech and XS make 6speed headers. XS apparently doesn't anymore. I don't understand why DC (and others) won't just slightly alter their design to accomodate the 6speeders. I know it would cost them a bit in the design process, but it's not a major difference. And the 6speed headers would fit both auto and manual CLs.
If you had to, couldn't you just buy auto headers and have someone cut off the one pipe and put a new one on with a bend in it?

yea I'm sure that is possible, but the inside of the piping wouldn't be that smooth anymore and would definately throw off the flow of the headers. Given they must be pretty much exact in length and flow, I assume re-welding a piece onto it, inside the piping would have bumps inside and would cause more turbulent air on the way out, which COULD hinder the performance of the headers itself.

but the original pipes are welded on, so cutting the one and welding on a new piece is just the same. I'm sure they can clean up the inside so it's smoothe after. I just think that would be an option for some to consider. There are also places who do custom headers.

yea i was thnking about some custom header b4 i got used comptechs, and thank god I did. saved myself a boat load of money.

unlike most cars I end up paying more than i should, with this car, everything I get is a deal.

due to better luck i guess, and definitely due to this site.

Love you Azine :-)

Our headers arent equal length so it doesnt matter.

Equal length headers do make more power though.

do the dc headers bolt right up on an 01 cls. does the o2 sensor need any mod to work. what exactly is the carb sticker. i live in ny and need to pass strict emissions inspections. i really want comptechs or dc ceramics...im worried about the quality of the other brands.

I live in toronto and we got strict emissions here also. My car passes with flying colors with my mods..

I'm gonna get it re-evaluated when i do the high flow cat.

don't worry about carb legal when it comes to headers. the same design will give u the same results.. and Our headers regardless of brand are all the same shape and almost all the same size.. so i wouldn't worry unless you NEED the actual carb certified stamp/plate/stick to prove it to the inspector people

I believe so, just the thickness of the metal is different, along with the welds and gaskets (i believe).
