Headers

Hello all,
Was doing some browsing on ebay for headers, and have found a lot of cheap headers for sale. Was looking for some input from you guys on these cheap ones, or should i just fork out the extra for obx/dc/megan headers.

I HEard those headers with the 2 Flex pipes are GARBAGE!
I was gonna get them but after reading posts about them I am gonna stay AWAY!
I am narrowing down between OBX and megan racing headers which can be had for under $300 shipped!

any header with two flex pipes is cheap, as stated before. spend the extra $$$$ for some dc sprots when they get back in stock.

u can get some xs headers but its a hit or miss with those.

I kinda wish I got the more expensive headers because every time I get on the throttle it sounds like a turbo spooling up

I have the same issue, just thinner walled, but for $150 they are good. I was thinking of having them powered coated to see if that will help. Its not much additional material, but probably can't hurt.

Comptech is the problem-free way to go. That and I've heard good things about the DC Sports.

megans are no good. ppl on teh tl side hated them. their is a lot of resonance from them. ppl cut the first flex pipe coming from the front on the engine and weld in a pipe instead

I was thinking of wrapping my headers in exhaust wrap to get rid of the hissing noise and reduce heat but one of my buddies said putting on exhaust wrap traps moisture in between the headers and wrap and will rust or corrode the metal over time. Is this true?

This is true. I worked at a worldwide performance parts dealer for some time. and when the question of header warranty would arise, the manufacturer WILL NOT honor warranty if they have been wrapped with header wrap. It does trap in mositure, and allows the headers to rust/corrode prematurely.

x2. I refuse to use header wrap. If the flex pipe annoys you that much, have someone cut it out and put in a higher quality one.

u have the spray the header first with some special paint then put the header wrap on and then spray it with some fire retardant spray paint. thats the way to do it, but your headers will still rust overtime.
