Header Post-Install Question

For the first time in my life, I decided to have someone else (dealer) install aftermarket parts on my car.

A few things I'm miffed about-
1) They didn't install one of the bolts-
Photo of missing bolt in red, green is installed bolt.

2) I don't think they gave me back all my stock bolts-
Stock bolts they gave back to me.

3) I don't recall if we had a heat shield over our stock headers, but I don't have one now.

Can anyone clear up #2 and #3??

Thanks in advance.

#2 - Looks correct. What they gave back to you are the studs and nuts off of the bottom of the exhaust manifold - 3 per side. All of the other nuts and bolts are reused.

#3 - You should have heat shields for both the front and rear exhaust manifold. Can't remember how many bolts used to hold them on. 2???

If they left that one bolt off, I would question if they even torqued the rest of them. That sucks.

There is a heat shield over the stock front header. It is not installed with my Stone headers.

man, that totally sux that those lazy bastards left a bolt off! i'd go raise hell. also, go back after maybe 500 miles and have them torque it all down again cuz it can loosen up. make sure they do it for free, too.

Did you order new manifold gaskets or use the ones already on the car?

Crap, so looks like I need to call the dealer and bitch them out for losing that one bolt and keeping my front heat shield. Fawk. I'll just install the bolt- shoulda done it myself in the first place.

And I used all the stock gaskets (manifold and the gasket that connects the header to the A-pipe)- doubt I'll have any issues.

Oh, and the power gain fawkin rocks- feels like a different car now, from 2k+.

Based on the second picture it appears that the extra Comptech bolt is in the bag. That would mean the stock stud/nut combo is missing or on one of the factory manifolds.

As for the heat sheilds, there are none with the Comptech headers but there are on the factory manifolds.

How old/miles on the car? Your stock heat shield may have been rusted trash anyway.

Just an update-
Looks like I did have the missing Comptech bolt, but the dealer didn't install it because the nut was the wrong size (bought the headers used). So I bought the correct size nut and all is dandy now.

They also shipped my stock heat shields back to me.

So Valencia Acura gets a mediocre rating from me. Happy that the install price was only $160 and they didn't hassle me because of the mods. Happy they gave me a TL loaner for the day. But the job itself wasn't that thorough, and I could have done it better myself.

Comptech Headers are easily the best mod I've done to my car, no regrets in the end. Hopefully my tranny will keep on ticking...

Interesting.. what mods did you have on the car before the headers. Would you say a 10 hp power increase due to the headers? How much of your exhaust piping is stock?

I believe the Comptech Headers dyno at 30hp... and it feels like it too. My exhaust is stock, and I do have an AEM CAI. And strangely enough, my mileage went UP after I got the headers installed.

Peak power increases about 25WHP but the gains approaching redline are nearly 30WHP.
