Header installed!!
Header installed!!
Well i got the headers installed yesterday.. the process took about 2 hours.. for some reason the "A" pipe was short by about half an inch.. so we had to push the midpiping forward a bit which pulled the exhaust in towards the car a bit... can't really tell though.. i was getting worried that the damn header wont fit and had to take everything out again.. we put the header with the "OBX" badge on the rear.
Here are some pictures:

Before and After
Right off the bat i didnt notice the power gains..i was like WTF?!!?
i just wasted $600... and there was a burnt smell.. my mechanic said its just the new piping and gasket.. it will go away.
But after driving it a few minutes and later on that night, i started noticing it. I was like wow!! i can chirp 2nd gear now, and the car pulls stronger even on 4th gear on the highway.
Im really pleased with my purchase.. and the install only cost me $100cdn.. = $63 USD... im thinking of dynoing it sometime soon.

I used to chirp 2nd then after I installed the CAI and headers I can't get it to do it anymore? I did notice really great upper end power with the headers though. I checked the actuator and its working.
Any Ideas?

I hope you disconnected your battery to resut your computer so the car would recognize the changes you made to it. Dustbuster4 did that after he installed his headers last week and it made a big diffference.
Congrats by the way, and have mucho fun!

Two things:
Resetting the ECU isn't actually necessary if you are patient and give the ECU a few hours to learn the new "feel" of the new parts. Our ECU can detect and learn changes.
There is a possibility of slight loss of low end torque with headers just like with exhaust because you are freeing up the backpressure you would normally have. This would explain why you might actually chirp less going into gears, but in 1st, for example, you should be able to spin longer and harder because you will still be tractionless in the high rpm range where the headers give you those ~30hp gains.
Really the CT and OBX headers are not much different than stock below ~4500rpm. It's once the 2nd stage plenum opens and once VTEC engages that the freer flowing exhaust path is really effective.
This is also the reason the equal-length headers (if they ever come out) dyno so much better in the low end - the longer, curvier paths taken help keep low-end torque and power strong while the even pulses ensure good flow in the high end (but not quite as good as the free-flow of the CT/OBX headers).

i just had my headers installed today as well... and WOW, they make a difference.
I also noticed car sounds louder and deeper now.. not a ton, but certainly noticeable... best $340 I ever spent on my car
