Header Installation in MD/VA/DC?
Hi,
I'm thinking of getting OBX headers for my CL-S around Christmas time and wondering if there are any good dealers/shops that do header installs, preferable one that has done some on CLs before.

How long did it take you to get your car back from the time you dropped it off? Do they have loaners, if so, which? Is that a high price for install? My closest dealer is Chevy Chase, and I'd never go there for major service.
Did you have them install Comptechs or OBXs? I have a feeling more dealers would turn down an OBX install.

I actually waited there while they did it and it was the Comptech headers. It took them about 2 hours. But if you call ahead and ask for a loaner, you shouldn't have a problem with that. They usually give me an Integra loaner. $200 is just about what other places charge so it's actually a pretty good deal considering this is the dealer we're talking about.

well some people did have to 'drill' holes in the mount to make it fit and im sure that'll be extra and take more time.
also note dealers will charge by the hour.

Is Vertex like a speed shop? Do they charge by the job or by hour? Will I need to worry about my car getting damaged when in that shop? I heard some one's 02 sensor got messed up while a shop installed headers.

well all they do is put aftermarket stuff on and make custom body kits. I went to vertex because I know the owner (steve) and seen him work on 7~8 CL/ TL 's and countless accord v6's @ the shop. He'll charge you by the job. Tell him Joe w/ the White TypeS told ya!

OK, when I get my headers, I'm going to call a bunch of dealers and Vertex and see whats up.
Does anyone know when the prototype racing headers are supposed to come out? I don't want to get the OBXs and find out like within 2 more months and more power-gaining PR headers are released!

At the tome, I was going to go to vertex but they wanted 300 so I called pohanka to check their price, they said 159 straight. Asked Vertex if they could come down on price, they said no, so I went to the dealer. However Vertex did give me a better price on springs and sways.

Wow, seems that Pohanka is a great place, though maybe just for Comptech installs, I would need to call. Did you guys purchase the Comptechs at the dealer too? My local dealer (Chevy Chase Acura in Bethesda) said that is might be around 80/hr and that a recent Comptech header install took about 3hrs. That $240 right there. I asked about OBXs and the service rep said as long as it will fit, they will install. I'm going to call Pohanka and ask about an OBX install.
CL2TLS - were those comptech or obx header you had done at pohanka?
Hey George...you going to the White Flint meet this weekend?

I've always brought the parts in to Pohanka when getting them installed. I was told they can order Comptech parts but I've never needed them to. If you do end up calling Pohanka, ask for Jerry Soriano. He's the service advisor who basically handles the installation of performance stuff. And I remember that Cl2TLS had the OBX headers installed at Pohanka.
