Header HP increase on CL-P
Header HP increase on CL-P
I was just bidding in Ebay for the header...
That guy provided the dyno from Comptech... I have several question..
On a CLS, the hps increased by 30hps.... but i have a CL-P or TL if you prefer... how much different will it make, and how much power and torque will the header creat?
With Cold Air, Pulleys, Header, and Exhasut.. how much power am I looking for?
Thanks

Here is the link to Comptech's TL header page( You will need an Adobe PDF reader ):

The graphs shows about a 17hp gain.
RE: The header should help any changes that you make in regards to increasing the amount of air you get into the engine. The stock header is not very efficient.
There is a picture of it on the old forum somewhere. It looks like the gas from the 2 banks are trying to make a head on collisions (or at least a hard right turn). into each other.

The header affects the exhaust coming out of the engine, not going into it. Unless you say that indirectly by getting rid of the exhaust faster you can get more air/fuel into the cylinders.

If you stick a potato in the tail pipe, try seeing how a supercharger works for you. I was trying to point out that the stock header is rather restrictive and has gases flowing in less than desirable ways. Gases do NOT like right turns or head on collisions. If you can get rid of the exhaust, you can get some cylinder filling that helps get fuel-air into the cylinder.
That's what I am talking about.
Sometimes engine parts work in synergy. For example, if you add a cam on a car with poor exhaust or intake flow, you will just end up with lousy bottom end performance.
OR
If you try adding a 500CFM holly carburator to a stock 2.0 liter engine, you can expect to have a rather sad outcome.
OR
If you add the headers, and then add some other goodies, you don't have to worry about limited air flow on the exhaust side *and* the sum of the individual gains just might be greater than that of them together -- hence my use of synergy.
(just my opinion from lots of bashed knuckles...)

You are a born statistician. Kind of like those bar charts where they show one bar twice as high as another (they adjust the start point and scale accordingly).
I looked at the graph since I was so impressed with your octane calculations...
Lets see.
Stock (oh, sorry Ign, E) @ 5600 is 183
Headers (Ign, H, E) @ 5800 is 196.
So, 196 - 183 = 13 increase in MAX horsepower.
I predict you are very smart and will do well in the statistics field.
