Header exhaust sound?

I have an 01 Aegean blue CL-S w/navi gotta say love the car, just wanted to know i was planning on installing some headers and I wondered how this would change the exhaust tone. I know there's hp gains but i was just wondering how much of difference in sound. I love the g35's sound i hope it matches it Tom

Did you first?

You look like a but could have been lurking for a while...

Comptechs - A lot say its the way to go but very expensive even though they are closing their doors.

Megan Racing and XS Power are pretty good for the price < $200 (Makes a small wooshing sound but I don't hear it any more. Maybe I don't notice it any more.)

Others kind of suck IMO.

In my opinion, the closest you are going to get your CL to sound like a G35 is with aftermarket headers and cat.

I don't think so...He's going to need to do a full exhaust to sound like a G35

ive never heard an aftermarket exhaust that has a tone like those infinitys. Soon i will install my neuspeed catback exhaust and ive heard on this website that it sounds like the G35 but i have to wait to see.

Im running icebox, xs power headers, magnaflow cat, and stock exhaust. To me my car sounds more like a G35 than any other non-infinity that ive ever heard. And after i installed the cat i noticed a huge difference.

Nice, I have a Icebox and should be getting my headers installed next weekend. It does sound like a G35 at low rpm in a higher gear sometimes...

I have Neuspeed exhaust along with a cold air intake, soon to be buying headers. As is, it has a G35 type purr but I think at open WOT it really screams, sounds amazing IMHO. I think it's probably the best route to take.

Every time I roll around a G35 they have a distinct exhaust note that I think doesn't sound like a CL with headers.

Here's a question for everyone, what does the G35 entire exhaust system look like? I.e., header size, cat size, cat back size...(what is it running?) I say size up it's exhaust system to make a CL sound like it.

If you want a G35 exhaust note, buy the car

Yeah i don't know how a g35's exhaust sysytem is designed but all i know is that i like the sound of it alot. I just want my Cl to be a little throatier and deeper than stock. I don't want an aftermarket exhaust because it's a waste of money..(Unless you have a boosted car) ..so it looks like i'll be getting some headers soon....that along with the removed resonator should do the trick.....

I think the reason why G35's sound like they do is bc of the engine. If you have noticed all infiniti cars have the same similar sound, which would narrow it down to the VQ motor. The closest thing I have heard to a G35 is the the Greddy Evo 2 exhaust system.

I got my XS Power Headers on last Friday and I had an AEM CAI installed a few weeks before that. I really like the sound! Not loud at idle and nice and throaty on acceleration, especially when VTEC kicks in! IMHO, the G35s sound like Jetson's cars and I'm glad my CLS doesn't sound that way. To each his own, I suppose!

I think it's hard to make our cars sound anything like the G35, but people have told me my car sounds like a de-tuned M3. Dunno if thats a bad thing or good thing lol

With some Headers and an aftermarket CAT, you'll have that.

If that's true then you sould move your far away project XS headers up in priority and get them on. The #1 way to improve the CL-S for the $$$.
