As I understand it the hotter you can keep the gas coming out of the head, the lighter and faster it travels. So coating or wrapping the header helps keep the gas from cooling and slowing down as it leaves.
Jake: Good Info, thanks

The benefit of wrapping the exhaust are two fold. First, by keeping the heat in the gases flow faster and help in the scavenging of the cylinders. Secondly, it does help to keep the under hood heat down helping the longevity of components and lowers the intake temps.
However, there are drawbacks. By containing the heat inside can deteriorate the headers. I'm sure Comptech (if used) would be against this and not cover damaged headers under warranty. The other problem comes from mis-use and installation issue. It is not un heard of for someone to spill oil of tranny fluid on them. When this gets soaked up and the car is run, it can get heated to the flash point of the particular fluid and the car goes up in smoke...
The final aspect is ho much off a benefit could we see. Little to none, IMO. It is normally used on much higher HP vehicles meant for track duty. By installing it I doubt you would see a measurable increase.

Again: Good Info.
Think i'll stay away!
How you like your CAI Scalbert ? If we have a Meet, I'd like to hear it. I've toiled over getting one, but am NOT really interested in the "SOUND" aspect of the product. You notice much of a Gas Mileage reduction for the TANKS you didn't get into the Pedal ?

As for mileage, I couldn't say. I really don't pay enough attention. I can say that on the highway I can get about 30, maybe higher as observed on the few times I did monitor it. But around town my foot is a bit to heavy so it would be pointless to watch.
Any idea on a date for this meet/drive??
I'm open for ideas on the Meet. Sept or October would be better for me, but I think it depends on the Response and the Number of people who would like to meet.
Would Chattanooga be a Good Central Meet Place ? IF That's ok, I could do it just about anytime. I'm off on Friday's.
Up to you guys: what's the Consensus

I do like it having had it on for nearly a year now, time to clean it I guess... I do hope we can organize a meet, I know a few other non-CL owners who might be interested. And certainly you will have a chance to hear it. Honestly, even if I didn't like it I would probably still have a non-stock intake on the car. It is now a given that I do this to all of my vehicles.
