as well we should, those things are pretty quick when properly broken in and driven, (manual versions of course), I've lost to a manual 3.5SE altima, (I know him, he runs 14.3's, he's modded).
I raced a Maxima 3.5 tonight, it was an auto, we were pretty much even.
Im seriously thinking about getting the NEW 6spd CL, then altimas and maxima's beware!

My buddy has the new 3.5 Altima SE, manual. I keep on challenging him for a duel, but he keeps on backing down. I'll let ya'll know one day when he finally decides to race me. All-in-all, that's a sweet car for the $$$.

It's about as fast as the CL-S but to me not as fast (auto) as I have raced both cars.

I posted b4 about racing one....It was auto of course, at that time the stick wasn't out. I had a him by two-three cars, but this was on the parkway, and he had temp tags.

The manual Altima is fast, just beware. It was pretty even until he went to a straight line. I was a better driver then he was so at the light, he gave me a thumbs up and told me that he was surprised that my car kept up with him.

I'm guessing that's the manual time. From what I've seen the 3.5 SE auto is around 7. If those numbers are right that's a huge increase just from gearing.

the fact that the altima auto is a 4 speed certainly doesn't help anything, either.

adding an extra ratio in the auto box would prolly improve its performance significantly.

I'am really surpise they compare the Accord V6 to an Altima. I think alot of us Accord V6ers say that is very insulting. I strongly doubt Honda would beef up the Accord V6 anytime soon. At least give us the manual V6. Why can't we be like our Type-S brothers?

I really hope so, I wouldn't like to see the Accord behind an Altima.

I'm not saying I don’t believe you but which engine would that be? To make 240HP it might be the odyssey engine.....but that is a 3.5L engine don't you think that kind of big for an accord? Just curious after those early speculations of 290HP in the 03 CLS fell through. So which engine do you think they'll use? An all-new one?

That is the same 3.5-liter engine that is in the odyssey. I doubt the accord would get a larger engine than the TL and CL. I guess the accord will have to play second fiddle to the altima for now

Didn't Nissan bring the Maxima up, to compete with the TL, maybe even base 5 series, and then bring the Altima up to compete with the Accord?
The Altima is nice, but from what I've seen (and I haven't looked hard) the interior isn't very refined, so they will just be able to steal Accord buying from power, and price. It's still an Altima.

It's true. I was strongly considering buying one (since I was able to get a much better deal on a new car than a used one), but I decided not to after test driving the 3.5SE (manual). Don't get me wrong, it's ******* fast, but the interior is complete crap. I can't picture myself buying any car where a test vehicle with <100 miles on it is already rattling.
