Have you heard anybody else ever got his/her CL-S Stolen?
Guys, just want to find out am I the only unlucky guy.
I need to reassess whether I should get another CL-S as a replacement. If lots of people have bad experience, I probably will downgrade myself to something cheaper.

Haven't seen numbers on the CL, but the Teg's were in top 10 stolen cars basically since their inception. I believe they were #1 most stolen for a couple of years in a row. According to my insurance guy, all Acuras carry a higher theft premium than other cars in each respective class (ie. 325/330, CLK etc. for CL)

Mine doesn't have the navigation. It is stock. I just found out there is a gang looking for number of cars these few weeks, pretty much like the movie Gone in 60 second. Can't believe I got chosen. I thought they only want Mercedes and BMW

well, in my case, the alarm did not go off. There happened to be some snow on the ground and I could see the footprint of someone walking straight up to my car and drove it away, like the guy has the keys. I suspected the gang has some linkage to either Acura office or the dealership. The guy probably is able to recreate my key and the chip.
Now, I am looking at the TSX.

by the way, don't believe it is for joy ride. The guy who did it did it very professionally.
I always thought that my car would not be on anybody's wanted list as it is not as pricey as any of the German mades and there is not much room for the thieves to make any profit. However, I just read an article and it is making sense to me now. It says they can sell any cars for 2-3 times the MSRP to many of the third world countries. So, some one must be paying some US$60,000-90,000 for my car.

yeah.. that is what I think too.. Acura is not easy to steal. If they have the technology and skill to steal an Acura, why not BMW and Mercedes, they cost a lot more than our car... it seems like they are not looking to profit, but for the fun of driving our sporty car.

If you have a "donor" key and donor ECU, there is a procedure for taping a "temporary ignition key" (basically a black of sorts) next to a donor key. With a swap-out of the ECU (not that hard to get to) and the key that went with that donor car's ECU, it allows "tests" to be run. I have a nasty feeling one of the "tests" could be an "unauthorized" test drive.
There are tools to recode the keys, and I wonder how many are MIA...
There was a guy up in the hills that had a garage with a large iron pipe contraption to bar the outside of the garage from would-be thieves. It must have cost a few grand for all of the poured concrete, metal work welding, and interlocking bars…
Hmmm…. I wonder how expensive it would be to modify an inexpensive microwave oven and modify it for “in-car” antitheft use. Cook the crooks to perfection!
