Have you ever raced an S2000?

Have any of you raced a Honda S2000? I recently aquired a pre-owned Lexus GS400 and had two opportunities to do highway runs with a couple of S2000's on separate nights.

I gotta say, DAMN they are fast on the highway!! I've seen them go in the city, but nothing impressive. But S2000's a beast from 80km/h to 160km/h.

I had a full tank of gas, and an extra person, but still pulled on him.. albeit V-E-R-Y slowly! We started to go at around 80km/h... At the peak of his VTEC, I think he actually might have closed the distance for a split moment, but redlines don't last forever (thank god!).

Everytime we punched it, my car would gain a good 1-2 car lengths right away, even when I waited for him to punch it first. I guess it's because of the torque difference (310ft vs 150 something!).

In the end, I had him by about 4 car lengths by the time we hit 230km/h.. then there was traffic in front of us and we had to hit brakes.

I raced a guy I knew a bunc of times back when I first got my Mustang. He actually would kill me off the line, but that was mostly because I was on horribly crappy tires and it was cold out (like 40*). He would just dump his clutch at 6k and it would spin a little but not much. After I gained traction I would slowly start to pull, and by about 100mph I would be right next to him. They really are halfway cool cars, but they just need more displacement. I'm sure on a road-course it would hand alot of more expensive car's their ass though. I drove it for a little bit and it felt like a godamn go-kart.

hmmm all motor, I ahve a feeling you would win.

To the rest of you guys, the s2000 is a great car. The biggest problem that it has is that there is very very little torwue, which makes stoplight racing difficulkt unless the driver is willing to tear the shit out of his car. From a roll is the most even race, but even then, the s2k has to be driven extremely hard to see the potential of the car.

Nice races, but keep it safe.

Yes, the S2000 handled so well, it re-defined the term "handes like it's on the rails" for me.. haha... no really, it was that stable.. I admit when we can to that turn going 210km/h plus, my rear end twitched a little bit (H-rated tires?).. the vehicle skid control hadn't kicked in yet though. But the S2K wasn't even breaking a sweat in the corners!
