On the dyno it was 5HP peak, and 2-3HP throughout the whole powerband.

AEM TRU-Power pulleys increase horsepower by decreasing the parastic effect that facotry accessory pulleys have on a vehicle engine. thus dilevery more power, But disadvantage is you 'might' have problems w/ power getting to your accessories, since it puts more stress on the alernator. or something like that.

I have the AEM pulleys. Have had no problems yet. Only been on the car 3 weeks though. Some people have claimed problems with electrical power as the alt. pulley is smaller. I havent noticed any dimming of the lights or anything else.
As for power gains, it is supposed to be like 2-3 hp constant and 5 max. I can tell you that my car is definately faster (went from 15.66 to 15.07, but I had the puleys, CAI and Densos all installed at the same time so it is hard to quantify the gains from just the pulleys.
All I can tell you for sure is I think they are worth the money, and would buy them again.
If you are looking for cheap HP, get a 50 shot of nos.

Had them in for about 7 weeks now. No problems and have monitored the voltage under various loads without any drop.

Check the Archives for a description of the install and why they might cause problems.

I have the Pullys and they work great! The only time I notice they are there is when I slam on the gas and the car just goes, no lag. I even have a 300w sub in the back and I have had no problems.

Were you able to use the stock belt for the power steering pump pulley? I don't see a way to get that belt off other than to disconnect the motor mount.

In response, yes, it gets up into the higher RPMs a lot quicker. I would say its worth it if you can get them installed for $100 or under. I personaly had them installed at CarBoy here in Houston for $80. The dealer quoted me $400!!!!

There was so little difference in the power steering pulleys diameters I was able to re-use the stock belt. There is a tension adjustment with still more room to play in it.

$400?!? And I thought my dealer's quote of $999 for CT springs installed was bad...

Also, thanks scalbert. Knowing that will make things a lot easier.

Better yet, I did it myself! A grand total of $170 for the springs (plus $53 for alignment) was all that was invested. You're right, it was just a lot of wrenching; no technical skills needed (other than getting proper torque on things during re-assembly).

That $999 did include springs, alignment and Acura warranty but it still was way too high.

Yeah I got a Acura warranty...it's called if something goes wrong with your suspension...replace everything to stock and return it to the dealer...

Dont pay that much for pulley install. I got the pulleys (belts included) from autocarparts.com. The shop here in indy charged me $40 for the install and he had to take the alternator off. They are pretty cheap for installs though, cost me $40 for the pulleys and $40 for the AEM CAI.
They do make a difference....

Hmmm...interesting...I might have to pick up some pulleys...every .1 second counts...when I have to wear a helmet to drag..(13.99 and below) I'll be pretty satisfied...

Saw that landspeedracing.com just added AEM pulley install instructions to their tech tips section, if anybody is contemplating doing this on their own.

They've got instructions on resetting the ECU there also.

Spiroh, what about the issue of potentially blowing out your windows?! 2000 watts? wow...

tinman,

Believe me ..I dont have a system for SPL. I dont really want to spend more money on amps. I removed my 2 10" Perfects, and added 1 OZ Audio 300L running off of my JBL 1200.1. I also bought some components, which I will be running a punch800a2 for them. The punch 800, is a little over kill, but I really dont want to spend more moola.

However, SPL can be fun during those times when a back massage is needed! j/k

No, it sounds like you've got a nice, high-end system there. Don’t know what the results would be with the AEM pulleys though.

Exactly.....Just talk to the guy who is going to be installing it and set up a deal with him that next time he will take it off and put it back on for a cheap price (thats what i did). T

The guy at the dealship told me that if i would come in with suspension problems, and had springs on, they would not cover the repair. I laughed at him........

Why did you get rid of the Perfects? I'm thinking of getting 2 10" Perfects too so I'm curious.

I removed them because in my setup, they were not accurate. The Perfects can go REAL LOW. After puttin the OZ Audio 300L in..I realized I dont like too much low bass. What are you looking for..SQ or SPL? I can probably recommend something good for you.

I just want some nice bass that'll sound good with all types of music, something pretty clear. I mostly listen to pretty much all types of rock, breakbeats and other rave, and some hip-hop. And I do like low bass that you can feel, but it doesn't have to be competition quality and super low and loud, but I do want decent quality stuff. I don't want to be replacing parts b/c I got bored of them or realized that they suck, I'll just wait to replace the entire car in a couple years. I just want to add two 10s, maybe 12s, and an amp for now, and then maybe replace the factory speakers and amp sometime later with 6x9s and components. I thought about the Perfects b/c I really haven't heard anything negative about them and they work in bandpass boxes. I know a selaed box may be better for what I want, but I'd like the look of a custom bandpass in the trunk and this design also protects the speakers from loose items that may be flying around in the trunk. I also wanted to ask about the aluminum speakers everyone's recommending, think they may look nice through some plexiglass.

There are a few aluminum speakers. The perfects are made of metal. That ones that look polished aluminum are the Audiobahn alums, Eclipse Alums/Titaniums, Diamond Mac Daddys. If you can afford the Eclipse Alums/Titaniums get those. With a band pass..you are going to get sick low bass. Perfects will suit you well. If you are looking for something that sounds excellent and inexpensive..look into the Image Dynamics IDQ subs. Very good. If you want excellent SQ then go with the follwing speakers:

OZ Audio 250L/300L
Illusion Audio ND-10/ND12
a/d/s 310rs/312rs

Great speakers
