Question Have aluminum and want wood trim kit

Hi all,

After reading some of the other threads, many of you will think I am nuts, but I prefer the wood interior to the aluminum on my Blk/Blk 2003 CLS. I want to get a wood kit to replace the aluminum and don't know where to look other than at a dealership parts department and I am not sure if I can get it there. I want to get the wood/leather steering wheel (I have found that online) also. Any help on where to get a wood kit like this and/or other options would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

Hunter

You could possibly try to find someone to trade with. I gave it a thought but realized that i like the look of the dark "wood" in with the dark interior or else i'd offer to trade with ya.

To get the wood, you will need to swap door panels with someone. I actually did the same swap with someone who wanted the wood in their 03 CL-S. If you want the brown wood, you will need to trade with someone who has a non type-s as the 01-02 type-s had the black wood trim.

They can just take them apart carefully to make the trade. It's not hard.

Trade sounds great, just need to learn how....

Thank you all for the advice. A trade sounds like a good plan and helps both people out!

I can understand the door panel part, (I will need to read up or be told how to take it apart. But how do I get the part that is on either side of the center stack?

I would only want to trade with someone if the wood is in mint condition, as the aluminum on mine is in mint shape.

Thanks again to all who are lending advice!!

center console is even easier, lift armrest, pull trim up first, then towards the rear for the front part to come off

I have heard about how to get the front doors and center stack trim off from some folks. (thanks!!) but I was looking in the car today thinking about how I would do this whole thing and I was wondering how to get the trim from the back seat area.

I am sorry to sound so helpless on this stuff, I am just trying to be extra careful with my new baby. (new to me at least!)

Have a rockin week all!!

Hunter

p.s. I am going to the National Corvette Museum tomorrow. I just sold my vette about a year ago and never got to go while I had it. I lived in San Antonio, TX when I had my 2002 Corvette Z51. (bought it new and had it for 3 years) I loved that car. Now I will drive my new baby, my CLS to the museum with my Dad who is in town.

I would have loved to have the AL interior trim in my CL. I'm sure you will find someone that wants to swap.

Hey gang,

I still was hoping to hear from someone about how to get the trim out of the back seats. I am looking to trade, but want to be sure I can do this without having to use a dealor to install/remove the trim. I am pretty handy with cars, but this one is new to me and I want her to be perfect. I would feel like crap if I damaged the car or the trim in any way.

Thanks in advance!

Hunter
