Has anyone had their car up on a lift?

When I installed my CAI, I used my friends lift( his dad's rich ). While under the car I was checkin it out and noticed something about the exhaust. There is what looks like a mini-muffler towards the back, before the pipe branches into two. Anyone know what this is? Maybe somebody with a Helms knows. I figured when I installed the headers, I would cut this thing out and replace it with a straight section of pipe.

Do you mean the braided linkage or perhaps the catalytic converter? Teh CC looks like a mini-muffler I suppose. Both of those are before the split.

That is a glass pack/resonator...designed to help muffle the noise...as well as probably creating a baffle to help maintain torque.

thats the exhaust resonator....some have taken it out and had a straight pipe welded in place....this results in virtually nothing besides a louder, droning, unpleasent exhaust sound

i was going to have mine taken out, the guy at the exhaust shop told me it would cost me $35 bucks to have it done and im sure if you ask him to he could do it carefully enough so you could weld it back in if you didnt like the sound. he told me it would be raspier without it
