Unhappy Had an accident last night

Read ended someone. Smashed up the front bumper and hood good. Lights are gone, etc. No good. Airbags didn't deploy. Taking it into the shop later today. Really hope it isn't totaled.

No one was hurt. Didn't appear to do any damage to the Explorer.

Body shop has it all taken apart now. They're calling me tomorrow once they get everything written up.

Worse than I thought from the original post without the pics.

That's probably 3-4K in damages.

Nope, I rear ended someone else.

Yeah the person that hits someone is always the at fault party (even in states with no fault insurance). I'm at fault for the accident even if it was because of the other party suddenly slamming on their brakes.

Just got a call from the auto body place.

$5049.02

Replacing the following: bumper, foam absorber, metal bumper bar, misc. supports, both headlamps, driver side bulb (Acura is one of the few companies that sell just the bulb without requiring them to buy both headlamps so it saves a lot of money), radiator support, AC and radiator, fan shrouds, 1 AC line, hood, hood lock (always replaced whenever there is damage in the area for safety reasons), grill, both fenders, resurfacing and repainting drivers door and trim as it was rubbing the fender a little when you opened it and had rubbed a little paint off.

Tuesday of next week to have it done is the target date.

Going to have to disagree. I've seen friends with much worse damage have their cars back in a week. The service rep said he'd call every couple days with progress updates.

I had a friend who wrecked the entire front end of her Saab and got it fixed up in a few weeks.

Shop just called. It's going to their painters today. They hope to have it painted either late in the day today or early tomorrow morning so I could have it back as early as tomorrow. If not, Monday.

How were they able to get all the parts so quickly? They must have too much manpower or not much business to be able to fix a car that quickly.

They have about 20 bays and most were filled with cars when I dropped it off. They're a good sized shop with good resources. When ever I've ordered parts of my Acura at dealerships around here they've always been able to get them within 24 hours.

I plan on it. Spoke to my brother about it last night. He's into everything in the car industry and he said the shop I brought it to is really good (some of the others in the chain are hit and miss). Only place better is some place he recommended but said the only people that go there are insurance claims because no one can afford it on their own.

The hood has always been a pain to open on my car. They called today to say the hood cable isn't working quite right so they ordered a new one and will have the car back to me tomorrow. This wasn't a problem from the accident but if they're gonna replace it then sweet.
