this guy things he can be a NSX

I was at work talking with a guy who has a 86 Mustang GT(bored, big cam, gears, basically all hopped up) and i was like so your car pretty fast but it won't touch a NSX in a 1/4(mile). he said wanna bet. I said what crack pipe have you been sucking on cause that's a 80 grand car that does 0-60 in like 5 seconds. He's like that car doesn't have great bottom end speed but top end it hauls butt. I'm like okay whatever man.

i think it's funny how some people complain cars don't have bottom end power...they forget that it gets past that bottom end pretty quickly.

same thing with the s2000...people complain that there's no power at the bottom. the car's like a freakin' motorcycle, it takes half a second to get to where the power is!

I hate to admit it but he might have the nsx beat. 86' 5.0 mustangs r fast. A frined of mine has one w cams, maniflod, pulleys, gears,& built trans (automatic)on drag radials he runs 12.1's all day long. In 99 or 98 they switched the nsx to the 6 speed gear box & boosted up the performance. The NSX ran a 13.3???

I personally think he can take the NSX on the drag strip. Mustangs are easy cars to mod. Those mods you listed that he has done can easily take him in the high 12s low 13s.

Yes but he is comparing a modded mustang to a stock NSX. The person mentioned that he had stuff done to his mustang.

he claims his fastest 1/4 time was 12.6 at 105 mph.(but i think that's a little fast if you ask me). but i will ammit his car is quick. He said next year he's adding a SC and be able to ATLEAST turn a high to mid 11.
that's pretty quick for a mustang. here's all the things i know of he had done to it.
It started out as a stock GT then he had it bored .030 over, big cam,i don't know what brand of pipe but dual like borlas, high compression pistons, 4.10 gears, hurst shifter, fatter than stock tires in the back, racing rims. that's about all i can think of for now. but i'm sure there's more. He said he smoked a new Camero SS(the one with factory hood scoop) the other day with it. He said the only import he knows he can't touch is a supra TT. He said he'd tear up a S2000,NSX,(not to be mean)CL-S,TL-S,type R Integras, about anything

I would still rather own an NSX.

I use to be big into 5.0 (still am) & know enuf about them. The mods the 86' Stang listed will & should beat a stock NSX at the track...BUT at the track the 5.0 is probably using a set of 10" slicks. Without traction, all that power is wasted. On the street, a stock NSX should beat the 86'. My friend had a 91' Mustang GT convertible w/ just Flowmasters & a 10lb Vortech raced a NSX at the local Friday nite street races...it wasn't even close! 1st gear was dead even but started to pull about a car in 2nd, & about 2 cars in 3rd.

I've seen a 91'5.0 LX coupe with...
- 8lb Paxton S/C
- 3.55 SVO gears
- MAC headers, H-pipe, & Flowmasters
- Custom subframes
- 10.5" slicks

This guy ran a 11.98 in the 1/4! Do not under-estimate a 5.0 with a blower & a good driver. My pal's 91'GT convertible with JUSt a 10lb Vortech beat a stock Supra TT with a car at the local street races.

I agree. Aftermarket parts for 5.0 are cheap!

I'm just kind of dissapointed that nobody has even attempted to mention that the NSX will decimate any live-axle Mustang (and probably even the IRS Cobras) on a track (road course = track; 1/4 = strip!!!) or even just a twisty road. The NSX will do it with the instant turn-in that mid-engined cars are prized for, and you'll do it in the squeak/rattle/shake/buzz/jounce-free luxury that endows such cars their prestige and long-term value, something that probably can't be said for any Mustang.

I totally agree...but Water-S was just referring to straight line 1/4 mile performance.

Is a Supra TT a 1/4 mile car? Or CRX? How about a Skyline? I think I've seen these cars rip thru the traps in 10 sec. or quicker...

He won't even pull up to the line with a TT Supra he said. he said he can get them out the hole but once the turbos kick in he's TOASTED. I know a new vette Z06 would take him out.He said he won't pull up on like a riced out v-6 accord that's "fogging"(running NOS).
he'll only run em if they shut the valve.( not to be mean to accords i have one myself but compared to a mustang a accord nothing) I said why do you waste your gas and money on accords. He said cause ricers always reving there pipes to me.

Supras are 1/4 mile cars. Fastest street supra with full interior is 9.59 from SP. Fastest uni-body is 8.98 from PHR. And theres a few on NIRA.
