Guage Swap Need Help

I bought an extra guage cluster so I could have one to play with but after swaping them out my car will not start. I cranks and turns but just will not start up. Any one on here have a clue? Thanks Clinton

So I'm running out of ideas here. I disconnected the battery for like 15 minutes hopping it would possible be a reset type of problem....no luck. I just put the origional guage back in and no luck also. Everything worked with both clusters and all accessories work with both of them. PLEASE HELP I need to get it running.

Does the green security key light up?
Sounds like maybe the immobilizer may be f'ed up. Check fuses.

Ok you guy are awsome......tried my other key and the car started up (still have the origional cluster in). So question is will this key work with the new cluster or will I end up "kicking" them both out if I try. Also why did it do this and how do I go about fixing it so I can use the new cluster?

shouldn't have anything to do with the cluster, actually. the key just somehow got kicked out.. and if that's the case you gotta go into the dealership and get it reprogrammed ($50+)

unless you've come across some way to program keys via the cluster.. that'd be crazy talk tho

sorry haha..

Just spoke with the dealer and they want $90 to reprogram the key and I have to take the car in to them. I still want to put the other cluster in but don't want to be without a working key. Even the dealership said their is nothing in the cluster that should have caused this.....so what did it or is it just a ramdon thing?

umm the procedure to train a new key isn't hard. It's outlined in the service manual. I thought it was in the FAQ as well, but that's for the remote. All you need is 1 working key.

I thought it was in the FAQ also but unless I just overlooked it I only saw info on the remote. Fuzzy, are you talking about the HELMS manual because I don't have one of those.

forget the dealer... Any decent key shop can make you a duplicate and program it as long as you have one good key

You can get a copy, but they will not have any clue how to program it to work with your car.

Local locksmith, $65 to cut/program 2 transponder keys last week for my '01 type-S.

foreveraflboy, if you can't find the info you need on programming the keys, pull out the phonebook and call a few locksmiths and tell 'em that you're gonna need the transponder keys programmed. They'll tell you on the phone whether they can do it or not and it should be less than half of what acura wants...

Not too long ago, I went to Honda/Acura here locally and they cut and programmed 2 keys for me for $50...

I would call Honda/Acura to ask how much they charge per key. Every time around here it was less then at the locksmith.

Must be a damn good locksmith! No one around here knows anything about programming a transponder key. I've had buddies try it. The locksmiths were like WTF we are not a car dealer.
