GRILLE-TECH GRILLS *TM..... get them here!!!

Well directly from the MAIN man's mouth...

Hey Smitty

Our retail prices would be something to this effect: Lower bumper grille would be $59.99 with the upper
grille costing $39.99 and the side grilles being $34.99. We will offer a group buy on acura-cl.com for
$99.99 shipped for the complete set. This is quite a bit less then the other guy. Now I'm not faulting
him for what he's doing if people are willing to pay that much and it's all that's available. The one problem
I see is when he cuts our grilles the cut edge is then bare metal and prone to rust. When we make them
they are cut and then powder coated so the edges are coated along with the rest of the grille. You hook
us up with a CL like the one he's selling the grilles for and everyone will be happy. We don't need a TL
because we already have a guy set up to come here next Saturday. Let me know what you think. Also we have
Our grilles cut out about every 4-6 weeks in very large quantities so it may be some time after we make
the templates to when we actually have them up for sale. Let me know what you think.

Thank You
Chris J. Driver
www.grille-tech.com

Everyone that PM'ed me in the past 2 days since Sam TRIED to call me out in the Ramblings section http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...hreadid=112244 has complained that they needed to adjust/cut his HOMEMADE grill so it would fit.... so they are proned to rusting unless the consumer CLEAR coats them AGAIN...

The ones from Grille-Tech will be cut Exactly and Powdercoated so there will be no NEED to adjust or trim...

I will PERSONALLY see that this Group Buy goes through...

Expect the completion Around NOVEMBER.... and 99 bucks SHIPPED for EVERYTHING is a great deal...

Your welcome :P

This whole situation seems kinda fucked up! Not singling Smitty or St2000 out but this whole thing could have been handled better by both parties.

I guess good for A-CL and A-TL.

First of all , don't think of me as a competitor to Grille-Tech, I fully support them instead. Oh yeah, thank you so much Smitty for doing all the complete research, wish you would've done this way back before I had to customize my very first grille for myself.
Since the beginning I've been very open about where I got my grille materials and I recommend people should try to customize their grilles themselves.

Hey don't shut me down, cuz all this time I'm only doin this to help out other members, doin all the legwork, the hustle and bustle in making the grilles.

The Grille-Tech guys are really nice and great people to deal with. I think this group buy for the CL and TL would be great, but they'll of course have to do some research and development to make the grilles fit our irregular grille space and shape. So if the grilles they do on this first group order are slightly off, not as flush as you expected, don't blame them either, cus it's really not an easy process.

Smitty, dating back to my very first group order, I haven't started triple coating the grilles, therefore a few people came to me saying that there's rusting on the grille. I soon noticed it too when I saw it on my own grille. From then on, I've been recoating the grilles layers upon layers to make sure they're well protected from rusting.
Hey, check this, if all the grilles are rusting, and I got the material from Grille-Tech, won't you think theirs will rust too? The way I do mine is ...
I started out with their painted surface, then I coat them again with the same color of high-heat paint (black/silver) in triple coats INCLUDING the edges too, to give them a slight matte finish (because their paint finish is rather high glossy), then oven dry them at my friend's bodyshop next door for 2 hours, then clear coat them using a satin finish paint at the shop, then put them back in the oven to dry out overnight.
Then the next day I come and pick up the grilles, checking each one to make sure that they turn out nicely.

Now you know why the process is taking rather long cuz and costly, try to rent a bodyshop oven overnight regularly, and add up the cost of paint and the compressor that I have to rent.

For each finished grille piece, I always make sure that they fit the grillespace on the car nicely. After making 70+ grilles, I came to know that my margin of error has been 1/8" which is not at all noticeable and I'm improving it everytime. I don't prebend the lower grilles when I ship them to the buyers because they're shipped in a flat box that I got from grilletech. Therefore, some people could definitely have fitment issues if they don't bend them correctly. But in order to avoid that, I've started prebending the lower grilles to make sure they'll fit the contour of the stock grille nicely.

The way Grille-tech does the upper grilles using the rubber gasket may look realy nice and clean on some cars, but on the CL it's a completely different game. You can't use the rubber gasket for the CL upper grille because it's suppose to go between the stock grille frame and the black housing.

So just wanna clear some misunderstanding here, I'm not doing this for my own benefit, cuz I really don't enjoy customizing grille as a hobby, like you all I prefer relaxing over the weekends. As long as there's someone who wants me to help them out, I'm here for them. Out of the 50 orders that I've done so far, perhaps 4 had fitment issues and they're all from the very first group order, a lot has been corrected and improved since then. One person had serious issues with the upper grille (also from the 1st G.O.) So gladly sent him a brand new replacement out of my own pocket. A lot asked me about the installation, and I gladly helped them out step by step with all the tips and tricks on getting a nice clean installation.

Smitty, a few might have shared their problems with you about the grilles, but I tell you what you don't know, of the 40, 9 had came back to me place more orders because they're satisfied with my work, they're getting them for themselves and their friends who saw and liked them too.

So I will keep providing my service as long as people want me too. And I hope the group buy works out well with Smitty, but since it's gonna be a prototype, and you're not satisfied with the finish or fitment, I'm still here for you all.

Thank you.
Sam

Anyone in Virginia gonna volunteer to let Grille-tech take some measurements for this project?

Nothing beats.. custom made..

Sam,
I have seen your work bro... I must say it is pretty tight.. You should start your own line.. Unless it is proven that Grill-Tech can do a better job than you can.. Dont worry i dont think people will prefer them.. Besides, customs are of course cooler than machine cut.. for example custom pool cues, custom guitars..etc.. If i have your tools and resources no doubt I will start making my Own.. You can call me a handmade activist, but man there is nothing like your own custom made MOD. on your car.. I dont mean to be degrading grill-tech, their grills are very very high quality.. but put some artistry to it.. thats when you create your Modification not just another one..

Smitty: man just get one from ST2000 its worth it trust me... Make sure you pass it to grill-tech for measurements... ha ahaa (Sarcasticly)

Thanks for your efforts Sam.. I belive if the CL-Forum has more "Custom Activists" like yourself car mods can be taken as an art rather than for ricers to show off..

Hey Mar, didn't know you'd finally post something on here. About time you stop spawning and speak your mind. Thanks for the support man, you're the only one who really knows me and the way I do my work here. Hey man, let me see those pics of your ride that we did together a couple weeks ago.

I think this is taking it too far. ST2000 provided a custom part for the CL, and we all know the CL had a lack of available mods.

I think we should thank him for the work he has done, and IMO his grills look great. If this is the way people who spend their time and $$ trying to improve the car get treated, then it doesn't bode well for future modifications IMO. The more options, the better!

True that, thanks for the support man.
If I hadn't been doing this all along, would Smitty have the urge to go all this length with Grilletech?
Think about how many people would still have gutter guard stuff on their CL? If any, I've been doing favors for many members, so don't put me down like this because one person started out getting pissed off at me cuz I couldn't give him something that never exist.
I have been doing other custom stuff for the CL on the side, but looking at how this forum responded to new ideas, I guess I won't be sharing them on here anymore.

I'll be getting the last laugh, when the group buy didn't work out and people getting shittier stuff, assumng the group buy would ever work out.

oh, and save your props until you see the group buy grilles that are merely fictional as of now.

Wow, way to handle that professionally ST2000.

Why not try handling it professionally or even seeing if you can make a competitive, better quality product. I see that kind of challenge, oh I don't know... improving one's reputation and building a larger customer base?

Settle down guys

It took me 3 e-mails to get Grille-Tech to make the grills.....

The TL's will have a COMPLETE KIT GB for 99.00 shipped as soon as the grills are complete.... estimate around NOV or so... I dunno, but I will keep you posted..

I will take the appropriate measures to get that over to those TL guys through JUNIORBEAN,NSXNEXT or Pianoman.

Sam for your info, I never got pissed about you not giving me the dimensions..... If you would of LEARNED how to read you would of understood that..... All I wanted you to do is MEASURE your TEMPLATE THAT you use and give me the numbers.... no biggie... but you blew it out of proportion when you took it in front of the board and called it BLACKMAIL.... I said quote "I could be a real dick, but I am not shallow like that, I am just dissapointed that you would be so tight lipped about some measurements"..

Don't even LIE and tell me and this board that you don't have a template... Because we all know your not BLINDLY cutting the grills....

But that is all water under the bridge now.... You ever call me out in front of this board again, you better make sure you know what your getting yourself into, because when you fuck with the joker, the joker always has the last laugh.....

That being said...Sam deserves alot of credit here for getting things going... this is what this forum is all about, but for Sam to say
I have been doing other custom stuff for the CL on the side, but looking at how this forum responded to new ideas, I guess I won't be sharing them on here anymore.
<---- that my friends is a GREEDY Businessman that is so sour that he got his throat cut by an UNDERTAKER!!!!!!!!!.....

Like I said before, best wishes to you, you REALLY need it.

First off what is so funny in the first place I dunno why you wanna talk shit. Did anyone force you to buy his grille. Yea everyone with a cl shoulda waited 4 years since it was released to get the first real grille for it. He just tries to help asses like you out and this is the response he gets. Next time think before you respond.

In ST2000's defense he has been getting shot down so why shouldn't he respond the way he has. Fuck that!

this whole situation has been a childish mess! Both cats have gone about it the wrong way but I also applaud both because st2000 offered something no one else had and Smitty for getting a competitor in the mkt. Now who knows what the quality will be but at least theres a choice.

SS does not rust on its own. However, when welded can cause the chromium to be "leaked" out thus making the region no longer SS and prone to rusting.

Or if an abrasive is used which has been used on steel the surface may get a rust like look.

There is also evidence of some impure SS that does essentially rust. It occur when pockets of steel remain in the SS.

But no, pure SS does not rust its self.

If the grilles are made of SS, wouldn't you think they'll charge way more? Use your logic. For all I care, I can make a grille that's made of platinum, and hell no it won't rust even if you throw the car into the ocean and let it sit there for weeks. But that'll be one expensive ass grille, and it's certainly not worth 1000 bucks.

Hey, I never went around and advertise my shit, I only been taking REQUESTS. Get the facts straight. If what I do isn't appreciated then screw it.

Just get this Smitty, you're only doing all the trouble to get to Grilletech because of me, I'm the ONE who told you about them right? what does that prove? I'm not like as selfish as you thought I am, I gladly gave you all the info you needed to get this going on your own, can't you at least appreciate that?

You can shut me down like this, but remember, what goes around comes around. Just remember me when your casket business goes down. Other than that, wish you all the best with the group order, it better comes through, cuz after all this talk and it doesn't come through, damn, if I were you I'd bury myself in one of those HOMEMADE caskets.

For those that understood what I'm going through with all this shit, I really appreciate it.

CLSter: You're right man, I ain't gonna back down cuz of what a lil casket man did. How bout this, I'm gonna find a much better grill company with much cheaper yet better material. Whatever they're charging, I'm gonna compete with their prices, yet provide a better service with full installation guide, warrantee work, and other stuff. Besides, the CL and TL grilles is only a little part of what I do, The bimmer and Audi grilles still stand strong.
BAM! Put a bullet through the casket.
