Green/Silver Wire is what?
Green/Silver Wire is what?
Hard-wired my v1 this week-end. Easy enough to do.
I tapped into a green/silver wire near the driver's side fuse box for power. It has no power until I turn the key on. Then it has 12 volts, so I thought it would be a good choice, and, sure enough, my v1 works fine.
Here's what puzzles me. When I turn the key off, the power stays on until I open the door. Then it's off until the next time I turn the key on.
So, anyone know what the green/silver wire is? And, can someone suggest a different wire in the same location that would be a better choice?
I mounted my remote on the steering column, by the way. Works fine for me. With my seat and steering column adjusted the way I like'em, I can see everything easily. Being short has it's advantages, I guess.
Anyway, what's up with that green/silver wire?

If I'm not mistaken, the system is wired in such a way that you can operate your windows/moonroof for a short period of time after the ignition key is turned off .... or until you open the door. Sounds like you may have tapped into this circuit. Briefly looked in the manual, and I see some Green/White wires, but no Green/Silver - but I was looking at the '03 M/T wiring.
Thanks for your responses.
Maybe it was green/white. I don't do colors well. When I was a kid, my parents could only afford to get me the box of 8 crayolas, not the box of 64. So, my color sense is not properly developed.
I'll take another look this week end.
Anyway, I wish I'd picked another wire.
Thanks, again.

Unless somebody has some reason to the contrary, can't see what harm using that wire would cause ... unless the operation of your windows/moonroof impact the functionality of the V1 or vice versa ... and this way you'd always know that it has been shut down each/every time you leave the car.
Look on the connector side of the fuse box there are several unused single point connections .One of them is power with ign on .Although there is no harm in tapping into that circuit mentioned why risk it.Jens

Hope this helps!!!
