I agree although most of the time I have played is on the highway and there is usually just some subjective point that I feel that I have beaten the guy and I have never stopped to see if it was auto or stick. I have never lined up at the stop light with one either. Older unmodded stangs are no great sh!t, that I know for sure. The Cobras are the ones that I fear ( or anything better than a Cobra). In the Mustangs defense, my old roomate had an early 90s heavily modded stang and he was almost in the 12s range at the track.

GT's are not as good on the highway as a CL-S is. Same driver and same transmission in both and the CL-S will probably win from a highway roll. This is of course assuming both are stock. Start throwing some mods on the GT though, and it can pull pretty cleanly to it's 6k redline. Really it's the gearing that kills the Mustang. It's 3rd gear in the 5 speed is equivalent to 4th in the CL-S' 6 speed, but to my surprise the 3rd gear is nearly the same in the automatic GT and SS CL-S.

jtkz13,

Why your 6-speed is doing 14.8@94.5mph?... It should be close to 14.5-14.6@97-98 mph...

Maybe the weather

It was like 85* and 80% humidity that day. It was my first time at the drag strip with the CL, and it was a learning experience that's for sure. I am not used to tire spin then wheelhop, then more tire spin I was even getting a little bit of hop on the 1-2 shift when I was powershifting. I was aiming for a 14.7 to be honest, because of the weather. Most people were down at least a couple tenths, and the track wasn't prepped at all. next time I go I will have some 235/45 Kuhmo Supra 712's on the stock wheels, do some weight loss, and make sure it's a nice cool day. I also had a 1/2 tank of gas and didn't remove the spare/jack, so I dunno if that hurt me at all.

imma go in october for sure, i'll let ya know

i'll have a new crank pulley and it will be under 60 deg, my only prblem is gonna be tractoin off the line cause my stock tires have no more grip, if i can get my 60's in the high 2.1's or 2.2's i might see a 14.0

raced a modded gt

I also raced a modded gt the other day. I was going down US 41 and the guy pulled up in the lane next to me. I wasnt sure if he wanted to race so at the light I didnt floor it off the line. We raced up to around 80 and he got a car length on me. I talked to him after. He had a 2000 auto gt with a throttle body, intake, exhaust, shift kit, and pulleys. I have a stock auto type-s.
