Got Toyos!

I got the Toyo T1-S in 235/45-17 on Saturday! They are awesome tires.

One thing though, the folks at Kauffman said they cannot do an alignment because their jig wouldn't clamp onto the wheel properly. Anyone else gotten this?

hey congrats man...just wait til u break those fockers in...u're gonna b pissed u didn't do it sooner

i can't vouche for what the mechanics said since i have a 225-series tire, but it makes logical sense...i believe Park Ave. Acura has the necessary equipment to do an alignment for 235-series...check around...u should find someone in the area who can do it for ya!!

What kind of mileage have people been getting out of the Toyos??? I was almost sold on them until I went to Costco and stumbled on to my Pilot A/S tires...

still a bit early to tell

it seems everyone who upgraded their tires is still on them and goin strong...figer a decent set of ZR-rated tires should last a few years...maybe by the end of this year, people will need to change tires (assuming they bought the car in mid '00 and changed tires soon after)

You will need to find a shop that has the machine to allign them. That is the reason I stuck with 225, I have enough headaches in life !
Great choice !

Yes, it depends on the "type" of alignment gear. The T1S in a 235/45-17 has a very thick sidewall protector and when combined with the .5" too wide rim width requirement and the "flange" on the OEM CLS (17x7") rim, it makes it very hard to get a laser calipers/calipers into the space/margin between the rim and tire.

Technique and I have mentioned this “problem” many times. At the very worst, you could always bring a buddy along and do the job with a set of stock tires and wheels on the car (yea, it’s a hassle, but it gets it done)

I moved to the SSRs before I needed an alignment, and a lot of shops "insisted" that they could do an alignment with the Toyos on the stock rims, but when I had them get ready to "do it", they changed their minds (they said they could do it, but they would “probably” scratch the wheel’s clear coat…

Equipment varies and there is some newer gear and older gear that may work if you can find the "right" clamps that can get onto the rim.

Some of the companies offer "optional" clamps -- I just don't know all the details -- check around...

Congrats, be sure to scrub them in for a few hundred miles before you go too crazy !! I'd guess i'm gonna get 30k or more on these based on wear so far, and i push them pretty hard. But i do rotate them often and check pressure regularly.
