got a ticket... BUT... (experienced ticket fighters HELP!!)

on the citation i noticed the cop wrote my license plate number wrong. I heard that incorrect information on a citation can be VERY advantageous... anyone here know what i should do? If there is anything i can do at all?

Get a lawyer. Its hard for someone off the street to pass that to a judge but a lawyer shouldnt have a problem

Why bother...just pay the fine or go to traffic school. It is a fucking ticket...not a Murder Conviction.

information recorded wrongly = no effect at all. Talk to prosecutor, get him to reduce ticket b /c you have a clean license; pay fine for NON MOVING violation, walk away. If prosecutor sez "school" say work all day, school all nite, no time. Beg, whatever. If your license is clean you shld be OK.

The wrong information may work to your advantage. I went to court to fight a ticket once and the judge dismissed the ticket because the cop had written down the wrong citation number. Judge said it was unfair to penalize me for the wrong citation on the ticket then yelled at the cop for not paying attention to that!

If you were pulled over, maybe not cause your getting the ticket not the car. However if it was a parking ticket, or something that you were cited for on the street while you were away from the car, then the wrong plate # might hold up.

I went to court to fight a ticket where the cop got the plate wrong, the make of the car wrong, and the spelling of my name wrong. I pointed it out to the judge who just said "so?" He didn't give a damn about any of the mistakes. At all. Even after I said that it was indicative of a failure by the cop to do his job correctly or accurately. I would have to say that it isn't enough to get you out of the ticket.

hire a lawyer. There are some that specialize in traffic tickets. look it up in your phone book. I just paid 100 bucks to one here in Houston and got my speeding ticket dismissed. They will handle everything. Now i dont have to waste my saturday in defensive driving school.

The only hope you have is if you get a lawyer. As others have stated I had a ticket that I fought because he got the color wrong, make wrong, and license plate wrong. Judge didn't care one bit. I now wish I would have had a lawyer.

I have successfully fought 8 out of my last 9 tickets without a lawyer using this excuse. "I am in charge of a worldwide IT Network and my entire European frame went down...I had to get to work. I realize I was speeding and I respect that, but I was more concerned about my European business associates and I apologize."

Yea some people get away with stuff like that. My uncle went into fight a ticket and the judge said "Is your record clean", "Yes". Judge said "lets keep it that way" and dismissed the ticket. I would never have that luck

one thing you can do is try to bypass the 18 month traffic school rule. It's really up to the judge, but you can plead guilty w/ corrections and request traffic school and paying the fine. Really depends on the judge. You basically say if he doesn't take that you are gonna plead not guilty and that shit costs them a lot of cash.
