1.8 t is quick if boost level is raised. Vr6's are non turbo.

Damn, there needs to be a turbo kit for the 3.0CL. We would OWN almost anybody with a turbo on there.

 

you should be able to take a gti on the highway. i took one but it was very close it was almost dead even till we hit about 90 then i started to pull.

but it also depends what mods they have. turboed cars get hp quick with little upgrades.

 

Did it have an exhaust tip on each side? It sounds like you ran either a 20AE (Anniversary edition) 1.8t that was modded or you might have raced an R32. If it had tips on each side, it was the R32 which is a 240hp V6 with 6 speed and AWD. Kinda porky at around 3400lbs. They run bottom 14s @ 96/97mph with a decent driver. Some have squeeked a high high 13s.

 

I saw a R32 run against a modded CLS 6sp (looked like an exhaust & b-pipe, lowered, stock rims) on highway 280S. I kept up with them and the CLS took the R32 by 1 car at 100mph.

 

1.8ts can be made pretty fast.

 

I raced one that was on a test drive from a local VW dealer. Funny thing was the test drive was by 2 Techs I took him from 30 all the way til I shut down at about 110, by 2 or 3 cars too. I pulled up next to the tech driving and asked about it. He said it has insane torque numbers and AWD. Probably not something I'd mess with from a light cause of my wheel-hop but take it from a roll no problem.

 

goodkill, but if i had a 2003 3.2CL Type S 6 speed um sure i'd have won... but as luck would have it.. i own a 3.0 CL auto.

That depends because I took a 330ci last night from a roll in my TLS. Not sure if it was an auto or manny but it was definitely a 330ci and they definitely tried. I do have headers and icebox though and I didn't blow him away either.

330i / 330ci will be a close race no doubt, all comes down to the driver...I raced one before from a roll and whopped him, but he sucked @ driving....maybe I'll race a better driver next time
