Got the new hoop ride! ;)
Picked up my new Black/Parchment CL Type-S with Navigation and Yankee Stadium packages! ![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I did end up going with Park Ave Acura... if not for the great deal they gave me... but because of the support they give to all of us and our forum.
I ended up buying the car for $30,800... total with tax, etc came out to $33,260.
I arrived at PAA at about 4PM... the car was in EXCELLENT condition. I have never seen a black vehicle delivered in such superb shape... not a mark on her.
There were just about 20 (well used im sure
) miles on the odo...
Minus the 100 mile drive to PAA... the car buying experience couldn't have been easier... I would & will make the trip for my next vehicle.
First impressions on the car... I'm definately glad I got this color combination! It's not nearly as sport feeling as my Red/Black CLS... but it is definately a PIMP ride with the Black/Parchment combo.
Like I said, the paint was in perfect condition, there wasnt a single mark on the seats, and the front plate was placed where it should be... IN THE TRUNK!
As a matter of fact... it was in the trunk just forward of the Yankee Stadium Package
This new for '01.5 package consists of 2 Park Ave Acura T-Shirts, 2-Stadium Seat Cusions, 2-Water Bottles, and 2-Ball Caps! They also through in the Park Ave Mascot Teddy Bear for no charge
(Not mentioning the free wheel locks Wayne hooked me up with, thanks bud
) Oh, and they also hooked up the two of my buddies that came along with me with a couple T-Shirts.
After looking the ride over... I walked in, signed a few papers... and drove off (after about an hour of shootin the shit with the guys down there
)
Gripes? Yea a few... but absolutely none that were the fault of PAA (they even pre-fixed the sunroof rattle for me!) but these gripes are the fault of our careless brethren over in Ohio.
After about 100-150 miles today... TWO incredibly loud and incredibly annoying rattles came out. One is right behind the drivers area some where... and it sounds like a screw or something hard tapping on the body panels. The second sounds like its coming from under the backseats. The other two problems I noticed are that the side view mirrors rattle when the bass is all the way up (weird) and the exhaust or something emits a rolling rattle type sound at just above idle. (Any known solutions to these sounds?)
Differences between early '01 & late '01? Welp... most major diff... this car seems to start about 100times faster... there is like no crank time... I turn the key and its on! The other car took a second or two of choking. My friend swears the passenger seat is different (I disagree). And the cupholders are much better. Otherwise... nothin I noticed.
Anyway, pics ot come soon... I just gotta find my damn digicam!
Thanks to PAA, particularly:
Wayne Gruen, for whom brought this whole deal together and urged Paa to show their hospitality in everyway.
Joe D'Amico, who found & sold me the perfect car on short notice, as well as gave me & the boyz a break from driving as he cracked us up all afternoon, hes a good guy!
Bob Trocolor, who got me through all the paperwork and out the door in less then 5 minutes!
Also just wanna thank all you guys on the forum... especially Ken (Satin) and all you boys & girls in the Acura chat who gave me moral support and pre-delivery instruction over the past few days.
Anyway, bed time... gotta get up at 5AM! ugh! More tomorrow.

Congrats Soopa, glad you are still a CL family member. I have always liked the black/tan combination on cars, it looks really classy. Does your car still have the bowling ball trim or does parchment leather come with real wood color trim?
As far as the rattle, the one I notice the most these days, esp after getting the moon roof rattle fixed, is the glove box rattle. On my car if I open the glove box while driving (preventing the glove box "door" from hitting against the dash) the rattle goes away. I guess the fix is to add some of those little rubber feet things. Anyhow, its an easy one to narrow down because it should go away once you open the glove box. Try it out.

Congrats on the “new” ride Soopa.
I think you will like the Parchment interior.
If you don’t already have some, get yourself both the Zaino cleaner & Leather conditioner before it has a chance to get dirty and/or crack.
Mine is almost 14 months old and it still looks great. I treat it about once a month.
Two questions on the purchase:
How do they handle state taxes when you do an “out of state” purchase ???
How does a warranty claim work if you have a problem in New York ???
Will you need to truck it down to Jersey or do you have an understanding with your local dealer to fix & service the car?
The reason I ask is because I have a great relationship with my local dealership and get all the perks like loaner cars, car washes & discount labor rates but they REFUSE to install any of the Comptech goodies.
I would love to buy my 6-Speed from Park Ave, but I can’t travel 100+ miles for every service.
Maybe they can MOD the car I want and then TRADE it to my dealer for purchase locally.

Congrats soopa! On the question of state taxes; You normally pay state/local taxes when you register your car (get plates). Warranty is valid at any Acura dealer, not just where you bought the car..

Yeah, the warranty is valid at any dealer. When my tranny started giving me problems I was told to take it to the dealer closest to my house, even though I didn't buy my car there. I didn't though b/c I hate that place.

Congrats soop. You didn't buy the black one with parchment interior from Park Avenue Acura? Please tell me no! Oh shiznits, that's the one we were trying to cut donuts in the parking lot with. Er, uh.... never mind.

Amen to that. I will have had mine for a year in September and I STILL love putting the time into the swirl mark removal - polish - wax to see that shine that only a black car can get. My last 3 vehicles have been black.
I just wish our paint was as good as the 1st gens.

Well done Shtoopa, Black with Parch, my first choice too. Did you get the wing?
Now, go get the X-Pel bra before you regret it. Black owners, am I right or what?
