Got my front brakes replaced
Got my front brakes replaced
I went to the dealer today to have them check out my brakes. As I thought, the front rotors were warped. Since the pads were still in great shape (showing I had NOT abused them) they resurfaced the rotors and replaced the pads under warranty. They're nice and smooth now. Only one problem. Now it sounds like a old POS when I drive slow. Something (pad against rotor?) must be rubbing because there is a regular scraping sound that varies with speed. It sounds like someone dragging a steel shovel against concrete. I guess I'll go back tomorrow and hope they don't take they whole day again.

That sucks that they didn't do a good job the first time. I have to do exactly that with my car since the rotors are warped. How many miles did you have? I'm worried I have too much (20k) and they'll charge me.

I have 22,500 now but started to notice the warped rotors around 19,000. I lived with it until the next service so I could have everything done at once. I'm pretty sure the fact that my pads were good is why they covered the rotors under warranty. If your pads are shot at 20k, they'll say you fried your brakes and its your problem.
PS. I went back this morning. They fixed the noise in about 20 minutes. Something about a backing plate. I guess someone installed it wrong and it was dragging on the rotor.

I mentioned the shaking in the wheel to my dealer 2x (once at maintenance and once at a State Inspection) They could find nothing wrong.
If they don't find anything this time, I'm going to another dealer.

I really feel the dealer should replace the rotors. After all they get paid by Acura anyway. I used to own a turbo Volvo and the dealer replaced the rotors and pads under warranty without any hassle. That's what I called service!!
How do you know if your rotors are bad?
Not enough brakes for a big car, eh?
