Got my best gas mileage to date!!

I know a lot of you have done better, but for me... this has been my absolute best.

I drove 411 miles and I haven't pumped gas yet - probably will tomorrow morning just so that I don't get stranded anywhere!! I am used to 250-270 miles per tank.... so 411 is pretty amazing for me

damn, my o2 sensor is bad and I am lucky to break 200 miles per tank. when it was good, I would get 250 when lucky, both with a mix of city and highway driving. damn, I'm proud of ya.

Well, assuming I used up around 15.5 - 16.0 gallons, I probably average about 25-26mpg - I guess not many other 13s cars can give that kind of mileage.

The best I've gotten in my CLS 6sp was about 430 miles on a tank when I drove from San Jose to LA on I5. I averaged 75 MPH and was on cruise control most of the way.

Ah, that's nothing.

My personal best was 502 miles to a tank on a highway drive. When I finally pumped I still ahd about 1-2 gallons left, so I'm guessing I could have actually gotten about 550 miles to that tank.

Mind you, this was all highwat driving and I was on cruise control at about 75 with no AC, but windows closed, for the entire ride!

Now that's efficiency! Another tribute to how well our engines are engineered with a good OBDII system and ECM to watch over things. Way to go Allmotor.

I've gone over 500 miles on one tank in pure interstate driving at 75-80 mph. Just over 30 mpg.
About 16mpg in town though.

From my January 02 post on the subject:

Unless it was all downhill I don't see this happening...
If you looked at the locations, you'd know that I-20 into I-30 into I-40 is (for the most part) completely flat and not downhill, although there is some hilly driving between Abilene and Ranger. If anything, the trip up I-30 towards Little Rock is slightly uphill from Texarkana. This isn't a thread about how I smoked a Viper or how I'm currently doing Heidi Klum, so there is no involved

I averaged about 32 mpg when I drove from NH to TN ... Maybe the intake and headers would have increased it, as they have certainly increased by MPG since installation.
ICEBOX - installed last April by Jens. Don't know if headers would help as they only kick in around the 5500 rpm range (?). As can be inferred from above, I was nowhere near header range, nor VTEC when moving at a constant 68mph. Only other mods are sways, front springs, and Cusco strut bar. And if I hadn't forgotten to bring my Zaino I'm sure I would have used less gas or tried to get to the next offramp!

Stock Tires ?? or are then over/undersized ?? This would mess up the odometer reading and skew the MPG numbers ... I think it's believable, but I'd like to see some documention on the tire sizes
235/45/17 Dunlop SP 5000's on stock rims @ 36psi. Documented as absolutely the closest diameter and best replacement to stock OEM 215/50's with the overall least impact to odometer readings (the size, not the particular tire). Also, overall distance from start to end of both directions within 5 miles (taking variations due to road work etc into account) of same trip made last year on stock rubber. Finally ... last year, I filled at the same station and had travelled 504 miles before stopping for gas about 10 miles before the I-440 Little Rock Airport cutoff ... thought my gauge wasn't working so filled up ... this trip was within a mile at the exact same spot, so I know my guage wasn't malfunctioning back then

Someone else posted that they had gotten over 500 miles on a tank, and I think they were still stock.
That would have been me ... I responded to the following post
http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/show...threadid=125412
on December 26th that I had travelled 536 miles on my first tankful heading from York to 20 miles outside of Lexington, Ky, and also I started the following thread
http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/show...threadid=119550
the end of October when I had travelled 550 miles on a tankful making 4 round trips to work (the norm is usually 3). Some of your (more intelligent) questions were also addressed in that last thread.

As a final note ... when I pulled into my garage on the 30th, I had travelled 450 miles from Grayson Ky to home - and the fuel gauge was 3/4 empty. This has now become somewhat of a crusade for I can see (if all the conditions are absolutely correct) a 600 mile tank of gas in this car - and not be travelling 30 mph to achieve it. This would have to be all Interstate at Interstate speeds for it to be valid and meaningful. And yes the posted speed limit for the most part on this route is 70 mph ... but by staying at 68 I'm overlooked by the prevalent local's who are trying to meet end-of-the-month quota's whether the limit is 70 or drops down to the occasional 65 or 60.

My best stock (when I first got the car) was about 430 miles when the light came on for awhile.

With 18" (225/40/18), I have gotten to about 390 with the light fully on for awhile, all freeway on I-5 to LA from bay area and back.

I can totally see getting about 500 miles per tank on our car. I've gotten it up really high before on all freeway doing about 70.

Yeah it's not hard at all. I got 32.8 mpg before, which is easily over 500mi./tank. I filled up at 341 miles so I don't know how far it would have gone...
