Got a letter from Acura today

Tustin Acura (California) sent me a letter today about how they are "experiencing an unusually high demand for quality used cars". They are saying want to buy my car "outright with top dollar" because it fits the specific needs of some of their clients. Is this a ploy? Has anyone gotten a letter like this?

In the past 2 1/2 years, I've gotten that letter 2 or 3 times... IMHO it's a ploy to get you into a new Acura Coupe... oh, wait, they don't have a coupe

Just go in there and demand 20 grand for the car. If they don't give it to you, turn around and walk back out.

Yeah its BS. I haven't got one from Acura, but my mother has an 02 Maxima and just got a letter from a Nissan dealership telling her how there is a high demand for 02 Maxima's and they will give her top dollar on a trade in. I'm pretty sure most manufacturers do this

Sounds like a deceptive sales tactic. If they don't offer you "top dollar," tell them you're reporting them to the d a or attorney general for violation of the unfair sales practices act. There are statutes that govern these ploys. Call their bluff.

Well Dan, it's my first letter. Just like I'm sure the first time a girl kissed you (2 months ago), you asked yourself if it was for real. I'm not an internet nerd, so I don't use those dumb smiley faces. See, I can be rude too. I learned it in college.

I've never received a letter, but when picking up my car last week from the service dept, I saw a hot TL and when I looked at the list price it was 35,400 with NAVI.
Then I noticed the ASPEC rims and then the body kit and the emblem on the back.
A sales guy came out and was like add 6 g's to that price. Talking about a ploy!
I asked why the hell do they have a car with the ASPEC package already install sitting with this list price?

I get a ton of those from Nissan wanting to give me "top" dollar for my 95 Nissan Maxima. Top dollar for a car with 200K on it. Ploy!

Not rude, I just thought you were stupid to even ask the question! If you have extra time take a marketing class.

Sorry if you thought I was rude, it was not meant that way. I honestly did not understand how someone attending college had to ask if that letter was for real.
