Got a few ???'s

I have an 03 CL non type S. A few people have suggested that I put type S heads on it and type S ECU, but for all that i could just put a whole type S motor in right?

Also what all would i need to swap my auto tranny for a manual?

What would be the best suspension setup thats not so pricey?

I know these are probably dumb ?'s but i'm new to honda brands and want to do this right. I'm looking to build something clean, everyday driver but have some quickness to it.

or you work with what you have like myself lol no reason to sell a CL and get another one you might as well get something cheaper that you can build up for way cheaper. I have a premium and let me tell you it pulls (nothing like a 6 speed ) but it moves.

Sorry StreetKa i get defensive about my P lol

Suspension you can look for some used coilovers or get some Tein springs with Tokico White Struts.

But there really isnt a point to pay that much for a swap unless you are really loyal to the CL many might disagree though.

first. search button is free. so use it all u want anytime u want

buy a type s engine and the ecu. its more than just heads, pistons, imrc, intake manifold, tb. just buy the engine. then u need the ecu and the imrc controller that is located on the driver side by the hood latch (also get the engine bay harness.

what i would do is sell ur car and buy a type s. less headaches. then start doing bolt ones

headers
option ur crank pulley
intake
some maintenance to the engine
exhaust
thremo spacers and tb spacer
intake manifold spacer if u can sacrifice some looks.

just search and search

I say keep it and do headers, lightweight crank pulley and cold air intake. You'll then be hanging with stock type S guys. You'll love the sound of it and the new stronger pull.

not worth the money in parts to make it a type s. and plus. if he were to put all those bolt ons onto a type s he will have a faster car than he can make the cl-p be. nitrous is a quick power adder (dont bs me with all of the horrible nitrous stories). search and do it properly.

but if u want boost. the cl-p is a better platform bc of the low compression

strictly my opinion: sell it and buy an 03 6 speed. That would be the easiest and probably cheapest as streetKA said and i agree.

suspension - full eibach kit would probably be the cheapest as well. i think its autoanything or autopartswarehouse that sells the complete kit. front and rear sways, springs, and shocks for $600 and some change. Thats probably the route im going to go anyway. again, all strictly my opinion

Check out this thread, note that the OP estimated the engine and tranny swap at around $3k-$4k. Not to mention time!

Definatley sell it and get a Type-S 6-Speed.

It will cost you way more to convert the CL-P than to just buy the car already done.

x1000 for sell -> getting a CLS6. Conversion $ and time isn't worth it imo.

Stay with the P and build it.
You will find enough power with the right parts.
My P goes ok for not touching anything from the head down.

lol true about nitros, but why buy sell a CL-P for 35 hp diff unless ur going for a 6 speed. If your just going for a type S u might as well get another project that you can be more flexible with, Or do what im doing keep the CL-P and build another car on the side.

^ Thats what I was saying when I read the OP, but I didnt want to get flamed.

But the truth is, if you want a fast car, the CL is not the one to build.

@ Nicks01CL-S I live in Catonsville Md.

Thanks guys for the input, most def will take all in to consideration. I have a shop and the tools to do a swap but what ever is easier, if i can find a Type-S 6spd for a reasonable price I will def go that route.

I'm not real big on spd but i do want more out of it performance wise. I will be searching Thanks again.

Theres a blue 6MT for sale in the Black Market. Its relatively cheap but I think it has around 120k on it IIRC.

Ok negative on any type of swap i checked out the link that tnobori1 posted and to do a tranny swap is going throu to much it would be cheaper and less headaches to jst sell my CL and get a type S. So with that said I will work with what I have for now till i coming along something again thanks everyone for the input.

If you want my unsolicited opinion, I wouldn't mod your CLP... just wait til you find a CLS6. It'll be easier to sell a stock CLP than a modded one. Good luck on your search! It is definitely worth it!
