Is this a good price for Paint
Hey guys, I just got a price from a guy that I know who does good work for Stripping, prepping and painting my hood, prepping, painting and installing my spoiler, prepping, painting, installing, and sealing my ground effects. All this for $1100. What do you all think.
Also does anyone know, if I decided to mold my ground effects, would I be able to undo it or once it is done, it is done.

A good body shop can charge you $500+ to do a single panel. So, for the hood lets say he charges you $500. For the spoiler he charges you $200 since they are usually already primed. And that leaves $400 for the ground effects. Sounds fair to me.
I know the last place that I went to wanted about $1000 to just paint the ground effects and install them. So I thought this was fair, since it included painting the hood, spoiler and ground effects and installing all three and putting sealent around the ground effects to blend the line in more with car.
And he is completely stripping down the hood, sanding, priming, painting, clear coating, extra layers, and the spoiler needs prepping also. And the ground effects is just raw, so they will need extra work. The guy works for the one of the best body shops here in TN, and does excellent work, he has done all of my previous work. I just want to make sure that I am getting a good deal.
That sounds like a very good price for the amount of work that is going to be done. I do my own work on all my cars, its a pain in the ass, time consuming. You just want to see his previous work, just to see the quality of his work. Just because some one can do it for $300 less, does not mean its going to be a quality job. Every one thinks body work should be cheap and quick to do. It is a very long process (only if you want it done right). If the guy is going to paint your hood, then he is going to have to blend the paint on the fenders to make sure the paint maches, that means he has to paint the fenders too. (UNLESS YOU HAVE A BLACK CAR).
DO NOT MOLD YOUR BODYKIT TO THE CAR. it will start cracking and chipping from everyday driving. The only time I recomend molding, is when the car is being made into a show car. (NO ONE WILL DRIVE IT).
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CAR!!!! LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FINISHED PRODUCT> KEEP US POSTED!!!!

Thanks, I have decided not to mold the ground effects. My car is black, but he did say he may have to paint the fenders to blend them in, but will see when he preps the car. He has done all of my previous work, with painting and sealing, his work is superb. He is one of these people that take a little longer becuase he wants to make sure everything is perfect. I think I am going to go ahead and let him do it, in about 3 weeks. This will give me a few weeks before I enter the car into NOPI Nationals. Can't wait, I will also have my 19" polished ronjon devotions on the car for NOPI. Should look awesome.

Otherwise, you might just be the car that gets sprayed, washed, and shipped out the door w/no color/wetsanding or polishing. Just make sure they take care of it right.

When I got rear-ended I had my entire car re-painted because there were some other scratches on it. The body shop said that if I came in and just wanted my car painted it would cost $5000+. But 2 years later and minimal waxing, etc, my car still looks damn good.
the shop that quoted me 2 grand paints show cars on a regular, 6 cars of there cars have been in magazines, and win trophies at mostly every show they attend...

red text = sarcasm. I'm joking w/ you. You are the first person that has ever has anything good to say about Maaco. The paint job you and I get from Maaco, will surely NOT be show quality.
