Is this gonna scratch up my headlights?
My 03's headlights are pretty clouded, so i bought the kit from autozone made by "Permatex"
It consists of a few sheets of real fine-grit sandpaper, rubber gloves, two felt rags, and some plastic restoration polish. Looks like it would work well. Instructions tell me to make sure the headlights are wet before sanding.
The last thing I want, is to be buying some new headlights next saturday. Are my headlights gonna be fucked from this kit?
Thanks guys.

You'll be fine.
I would start with 1500, then 2000, and finish with 2500 grit.
It has to be wet sanded though....Very important!
By hand is difficult to complete with a "brand new" look so I would recommend using a buffer/polisher to finish it out.
By hand I just wasn't able to get the kind of results I was looking for.

u gotta just wetsand it... make sure the sand paper is constantly wet.
depending how bad they are you can get away with really high grit.
start with 1000, then 1500 and finish with 2000
if its that that bad, start with something higher like 1500 or even 2000
then just get the polish (meguiars plastx would be good) and a cotton towel something that's not thick... because you need to work ur ass off. u can't just spread this stuff around, you have to put a lot of muscle and work it in.
reason why is plastx has diminishing abrasives....
good luck.

The lights arent too bad, when i first got the car, i scratched pretty hard with my fingernail, and it started coming off. If that tells ya anything.

If its bad start at 800 and work up to 2500. If not go from 1000 up to 2500, and use PlastX with a buff wheel after to make it shine and seal. Make sure not to press hard with the sandpaper and keep dumping in a bucket of water. Let the sandpaper do the work. Also, do yourself a favor and tape up the fender and bumper. Learn from my mistake. If it doesnt look good enough go through the steps again. If you take the time and go deep enough to get all the junk out it will look pretty damn close to new.
