Gonna race a stock G35c again!

In 30 min. hopefully i will hit it off with my buddies gcoupe. we are going to try a rolling start, something around 20 or 30 mph. since from a start i have trouble launching, this will give us a better idea of how much power both cars really have. i know i know gear ratios have alot to do with it, but at these low speeds you either drop into 1st or second and thats good enough.
off i go to warm up the tires! wish me luck!
p.s. i will post results later on tonight. there will not be pics or videos because i dont have either ready to use. however, i have admitted a loss and will admit truthfully again.

I predict that the G35C would win just beacuse of the higher torque and comparable weigtht.

Oh Empty your car and remove the spare tire, tools etc.!

What transmissions are in both cars? I beat a G35C auto from a complete stop up to 75 when we had to shut it down. He wasn't too far back though.

My prediction... I say the G35 will take you by 1-1.5 cars. More info is really needed. Are you modded? Auto or 6 speed? G35 Auto or 6 speed?

Waiting for the results... b/c truthfully I have nothing better to do right now.

Ok, i should of mentioned my mods first. Both cars are auto, tls vs. g35c
i have h+I, he is stock.
we just did many runs and each time was different. one race i got a very decent launch which made us tied completely, i was just barely ahead all the way to 110. We tried from a complete stop, 15 mph roll, and one more at about 25 mph. if we both get on it at the same time, it is equal. if one of us gets on it first, the other one is toast. we basically have equal power, so it all comes down to the driver.
conclusion: for a stock car, those cars are fast. but for our cars to be able to keep up with only 2 mods is not bad either. the total result is 4 races for the g coupe, and 2 taken for the tls.
all in all it was very fun and i figure a tls with i/h/e should consistently tie or win. any more mods such as pulley will definately take a g coupe by much more!

i forgot to mention. if either one of us lost, it was by 1/2 car at most. hood was at door. i couldnt get more than that on him, and he couldnt get more than that on me.

mattg, i will personally give you $50 if you lose to an auto stock g35 coupe. that is how confident i am you will win.
first of all, youve got superlight rims. then you have ur pulley. i will through out the exhaust because it is minimal anyways.
you are pushing at least 10 whp more than i am, with about 9 lbs. of unsprung weight in each corner!!
not only will you win everytime, but you will take the G by 1 car minimum. by the way, how much was the rims and where from? i never knew they are that light, 16 lbs is ridiculously light.

good job!

an auto G35C is a low or flat 6sec car and 1/4 should be around 14.3

an auto CLS with header and etc is a low or flat 6 sec car too

so the result should be around there.

but if u race an auto G35C with header +exhausts(20+rwhp) then u really need some s/c to beat it.

mayb some of u think i am more biased toward G35C... but i am not.
Exhausts for G35 = header for CLS.

that 14.3 figure seems a bit low to me. I doubt the TLS is running 14.3.

Sounds like it was a good, fair race.

Edit: Although, the TL is modded... Stock for stock, my money will be on the G.

Bulldog01, and I were running consistent 14.5s 14.6 in the heat of the summer. I think if the difference is less than 0.5s in the 1/4 mile. the G35C could lose on reaction time alone.

Congrats, power3dfx, have you ever run on the track? what is the your best 1/4 mile time?

I raced some idiot friend of mine in an auto gcoupe and he justfloored it without lineing up first. I followed him to wave him down and start over but he was just inexperienced. It did seem that we were neck and neck since he didn't gain on me once he jumped ahead. he just kept what he had on me by a car length.

Congrats, power3dfx! I've had similar results in my modded TL-S as well. And I fully agree, it's the launch that ends up dictating most successes...
That being said, I seriously doubt my car runs a 14.3...

no shit BSK.

the g's and z's also have 20 more horsepower and rwd. we need headers just to even things out w/ the auto's.

i appreciate all your inputs guys. before we left, i talked to him about mods he was planning. he said he wants to get an injen intake put on. i know those intakes are overrated by injen, since they are trying to sell them, but i am hoping a ur crank pulley will even us out again.
nashua, i want to run at the track but have no idea where to go. anyone from la,ca going to one soon?

Good runs. Carlsbad raceway is open but it's been pretty warm. It would be fun to make some runs during the fall/winter though.

Glad we proved you can mod our cars car to make it equal to another *unmodified* car...

So we have to add 20+ WHP to keep up. LOL

:P

G35 > CLS

Get over it folks, it also looks nicer too.

i've raced both a G35 coupe, 350Z they were both stick... with me being a 6speed CL-S. Each time i started from a redlight with them and we were head to head with each other. there was no "hey i'm faster than you or you are faster than me" but there was just being dead even for up to about 70-75 mph. I guess they both didn't expect that from my car thinking that they were suppose to be so much faster but we stopped and they were telling me how freakin fast my car was and vice versa. I don't know but my car can easily match up to them cuz this isn't the first time i've raced them bcuz i've had freeway races with them.

I'm an auto with H-I-mufflers and I just raced a G35 auto coupe stock for the second time. I beat him by half a car length to 70 but any little variable would give a different outcome. I'm sure the headers and intake gave me the power to keep up even, otherwise dead even. good luck...

get over what?

A modified CLS can keep up with a stock G35...

Ok...

I like my CLS, but I'm not in denial the G35 is a faster/better handling car stock vs stock.

Wait until some more mods are available for the G35... What are you going to say then?

Especially once one of those guys bolts up the SC in their G35. Or one of the many turbo kits being produced.

So no matter what the CLS is the bomb eh... LOL
pass the pipe so I can start thinking like you...

i think he was trying to be funny with the cls>g35 line there siggy...we all know that the g35 is a faster car, how it looks is all up to the viewer..so maybe you should lay OFF the pipe in order to understand when people are joking and when they're not

hey fuckwad, maybe that is true. But usually people put a smiley in to show their joking. Since sarcasm is sometimes hard to figure out when it's typed.

If so my bad, why don't you let Zapata speak for himself. Meantime cram you head back up your ass

Did you miss the other G35 thread?

EDIT:

b.t.w. anyone who starts taking threads online seriously is going a bit overboard. just a bunch of opinions flying around. i don't think Zapata and I would start arguing over this BS if we met in person. Just chit-chat dude.

Stock for stock, the g is faster, but have you sat in one? The damn thing felt like a prototype with the flimsey switch gear and nasty ass red monotone back lit gauges. night and day, sport luxury(G35) versus luxurysport(CL-S).

Oh I think the interior is nasty... I agree!

i doubt zapata was joking. a lot of members here still take pride in their cars.

and maybe we do have to mod our cars to keep up w/ the new g's and z's, but the acura still has it's advantages.

the new nissan/infiniti's are 3 years newer after all (besides the interior ).
