going to the track tonight: whats my time?
#82
My car did the following years ago when I cared about drag racing it:
Bone stock - 14.5 @ 96.5mph
Drag radials on stock wheels - 14.29 @ 98.8mph
Drag radials w/lightweight wheels & Icebox - 14.08 @ 98.8mph
Drag radials w/lightweight wheels, Icebox, H&R springs & Tokico struts - 13.93 @ 97.3mph
Its really all about the launch and shifting fast. My car never mph'd fantastic, but it always ran nice ET's. My 13 sec run came with a 2.105 60' and little to no wheel hop or tire spin.
My car is an old man now with 156k hard miles, but it used to be a sprightly 13 sec sleeper.

I had 17 x 8.5 (SSR Comps) and they weighed exactly 15 pounds.
Here's a comprehensive list of several wheels
http://www.wheelweights.net/
Its an excel spreadsheet
Also increasing the diameter of the wheel will also have a negative effect fyi. Maybe not enough to outweigh several pounds of shed weight, but your best best is running a 17" wheel that is wider to fit a wider tire.

My best time came with 225/45/17 BFG drag radials on lightweight centerline storm wheels. Thats how I ran my 13.9. The shorter diameter I am sure helped acceleration too, as even on the street it seemed to rev faster. I ended up going into 4th sooner which was nice, because with the stock tires you have to shift out of 3rd just a hair before the line.
Also I would always try to go when it was in the 60's or 70's and low humidity. Going when its 90* and humid does no real good.
I also almost always used the 'no lift shift' method, which can cut a tenth or two off the times.

well, the 215/50 were stock size, and i replaced those first, then i went to a 225/45 front cause i got a good deal on them. plus, the rear sits up higher, so the back ratio is a little bigger than the front..lol
i really want 235 or even 245 all around

You can't always judge it by 60ft times. I ran a 2.3 60ft time when i ran my 9.3 1/8th stock, but have seen runs on other stock 6-speeds where they were getting 2.1 60fts in 1/8th passes that were slower than mine
#102
I also had to drop my tires to 15 psi to get a 1.8-1.9 60 ft. Did not seem to effect my trap speed.
Civic before you reply to you know who, just remember your signiture! HAHAH lol

Also to arron if you really want to get that extra tenth or so you could also take your power steering belt off. I know it seems a bit much but I've cheated that way before just to get that tenth with other cars. Of course none of them needed a motor mount undone to get if off either. But if you really want a 13.9 give it a shot.
I used to try all kinds of shit to pick up time. When i had nothing else to do.
I really wish we had a 1/4 track around here! Really miss it. Nothing but 1/8ths around here.

Don't know if any of you guys have tried this or not.
https://www.pricechemical.com/Super_Street.html
You PC's IE may not like thier certificate. Just "Continue anyways" It safe I swear.
I have used it a few times for dyno days and dragstrip. It got my 2 tenths and 4 mph. They have some stronger stuff to if you are boosted.
The super street got me the 2 tenths and 4 mph in my big ass Chevy Tahoe with a built motor. IIRC i took the comp from 9.4 to 10.5. Also picked up 31 hp with it and 104 octane fuel. Here is a link to some photos of the engine work. Don't know if they are all still there or not.
http://chevytruckworld.tenmagazines....p?AlbumID=3154 Seems like all the comments are gone as well as the specs for teh parts.
If you run the Super Street make sure to get quality premium fuel. 93 is fine, but get it from a good station in your area.
It will really help with the heat also.
Man now I really want to go race! Damn you guys!

in regards to doing what it takes to gain a tenth at the track is not what im looking to do.
i am looking to perfect my driving in THIS car, and to keep it as i would be driving around town.
hell, i could just slap some race fuel in there and i would probably be there with ease too, but not what im trying to do...
super street is what i want, but not a race additive to my fuel...lol..
thanks very much though...everyone has been very informative

It would be a good fuel to add that super street to as it oxygenates teh fuel.
Aaron, I hear ya. I was not sure what your actuall intentions were. I had already felt i knew what i could do anytime anywhere with my DD, and just started tinkering to see what I could squeeze out of it. Just something do do I guess.

waiting till this Sunday. It wont be very nice outside, but a lot of cars go to the track on Sundays, so i will go for fun to see what other kills i can add to the belt...lol

so it sucked at the track tonight. hot as hell even at 8pm it was 86 degrees.
well, i still cant beat a 14.2 and my mph is still very low, wtf can it be?
tires? mine are 225/45 falken ziex 912
my 60ft sucks ass, and i have major torque steer in 2nd and 3rd...
im really just at my last nerve with this. i put new exhaust on because i thought it was choking, but that didnt help a bit. also did the coolant bypass, and painted my inake with high temp paint.
98.7mph is as fast as it will go and i dont know why?
maybe i will get it dynoed to see if my car even has the right numbers unless somebody has an idea of whaat the problem is?

Yes heat. My times suck too. And when it was actually in the 60's one time I had zero traction because the tires don't like to be cold.
I stopped going. I got fed up too. This isn't a track car. I wasn't going to kill it trying to get good 1/4 miles times with the FL weather the way it is. You need RWD & traction + power to get good times in this climate.
You got a 14.2, be happy with that.

Take off door panels, remove passenger seat, both rear seat cushions and center box,and go with less than a quarter of a tank on a cooler day and with "luck" maybe 14 flat. Still most likely 14.1
The weather is going to be horrible all weekend in the south.

yeah, i hear you guys.
my 60ft were horrible last night too.
i can tell my car has pretty good power, but it was upsetting to watch all the 13 second cars and then me still at 14.2...i mean, people have ran that in our cars in stock form, and i have headers, spacers, full exhaust, intake..but whatever

lightweight wheels and good tires really needs to be my next mod, i just cant decide yet on what i want..17's or 18's..
then if i still have this car before the end of the year, i reeeeeally want a 3.5 swap.
with that, i know id be in the low 13's for sure because im confident in my driving...thanks man
#119
I don't think you will get low 13's with a 3.5 build.
What's a 3.5's gain over 3.2 ? Maybe I'm wrong but I think it's around 30-40hp .
I know that's not going to equal a full second off your low 14 1/4 passes.

i wish someone like civic would go to the track so we can see some numbers..plus good wheels and tires have been proven to lower 2/3 tenths even on a stock car, which would have me in the 13's even a a hot humid day like i have here most of the time...
