going with 18x7.5 rims later..lowering???

Looking at getting 18x7.5 rims down the road (after lowering the car). How low can I go? I'm sure Comptechs will be fine, but will Eibach Pro Kit be cool too? Any other thoughts or reccomendations are welcome too.

Also, going to get the Versus kit..so I dont want to go TOOOOO low.

Thanks

hmm...but arent the comptech springs 1.5/1.0 and the eibach pro kit is 1.8/1.5? So how are they the same? I can careless who the 'creator' is...just the drop. I was looking at purchasing them thru acp or something, not thru comptech directly.

http://www.comptechusa.com/store/110135cl.html

they've updated the drop heights to the heights of the eibach kit.

I'm sure if you search around you can find the old comptech springs stocked somewhere, but theres a reason they replaced them. they RUST. see the sticky thread .. I will be replacing mine come spring with a set of tein coilovers.

ok i recognize your mad knowledge oh great one...but still doesnt answer my question about if the drop will be OK and if that hieght is too low or can I go lower. And if I buy it from ACP.com, they still have the comptechs with the 1.5/1.0....not going to buy direct ...charging too much.

Yo Blader....

How does it all come out since you already went with springs before...do you still end up paying the same going either way? Buying shocks and springs vs coilovers

well I'm getting a deal on a set of used TEIN's with like 10k miles for 550 ..

the price of springs and shocks comes real close to coilovers and personally I wish I had just paid the extra money for the coilovers to begin with. its just a better system .. and will certainly out-handle my comptech\tokico setup.

but it kinda worked out good for me cause I got to use comptechs and tokico's for one year .. now I'm going to send these back and basically get a brand new set of comptech\eibach springs to sell, and tokico shocks .. so in the end I"ll end up having coilovers for like 200-300 bucks lol.

as for whether or not you'll rub .. not sure, do a search I'm sure there are people running that size wheel on an eibach drop. you could always get koni adjustables and set them to a higher perch if you rub.

I have 18x7.5 rims with 235\40\18's and I have never rubbed with comptechs\tokicos, and actually have alot of wheel gap, or more than i'd like. especially in the back. however the 235's are wide .. you have to be careful. I'm sure if I go too low with the coilovers I will rub.

To answer the question, the drop isn't as important as the offset of your wheels.

If you go with +45 or higher you will be fine as long as you choose a wheel that is no wider than 235

If you go with +42 then you'll probably still be fine but you may want to stick with 225/40/18 and even then you may have to trim your bumper tab.

here's what Comptech/Eibach's wrapped around Neuspeed/Koni's look like riding on 18x7.5 Servos wearing 235/40/18 Toyo T1-S's. No rubbing issues at all. Front's on bottom perch, back's on top perch (to compensate for weight of system).

Hmm..thats kinda low....I might have issues when I put on the Versus kit, especially in the front. Looks like I might have to go with the TEINS or N1's.

AH...

Would going with H&R Sports and Tokicos be cool? Anyone got this setup?

Why are teh Tokicos so much cheaper than the Konis (looking on c-c-c.net)?

Look at the pics posted by ChadT ... I don't believe his drop is as severe as mine because he isn't compensating for a system the way I am ... and remember, my fronts are on the bottom perch ... I don't think anybody else who went this route sits like mine does because I am at the extremes of the settings - everything considered.

Koni Yellows have different perch settings on which the springs rest ... they are used to raise or lower the car ... I believe the fronts have 2 settings (stock and lower) and the rears have 3 settings. The Neuspeed/Koni's have 5 perch settings, which provide for more range of adjustments for fine tuning the final position. If you look at this picture from the Comptech website, they are actually showing a picture of the Neuspeed/Koni yellow. The perches are the 5 slots carved into the body of the shock just above the KONI decal.

Obviously, this isn't something you change on a whim, like you can with the Tein's or any coilovers.
